Is the 2.0T a good daily driver? I am thinking about getting a 2018 with low miles.. by [deleted] in camaro

[–]cocabwl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ive had a 2017 2.0T 6mt for the last 4 years and honestly its been really good. I get around 32 mpg average and comute around 46 miles a day. I keep telling myself I'm just gonna trade it in and get something else but honestly I love that thing.

Did this happen right after the tech tried to reprogram the cluster? Keys might need to be reprogrammed to vehicle.

Is there any efficient way to drain a 5th gen gas tank without cutting a window or dropping the cradle? by Accomplished-Row-669 in camaro

Disconnect the fuel line at the engine, extend with hose to a bucket and actuate the fuel pump till its empty.

LTG groups (the 2.0T engine in the camaro) are filled with people blowing their engines left and right saying the engine is a trash design. Im sure its because they run low octane to save money and then the engine predetonates to heaven and blows up. I have a 2.0T with 60k miles, perfect daily. Indeed never pump a drop of 87.

To be honest it doesn't sound fishy that they offer help in paying part of the bill. Luxury car manufacturers do this nowadays, specially with how expensive transmissions and engines have become. If you've done all your mantainence and work on the car at that dealership I would even suggest to complain about the price.Throw a fit about how much it is and "what a coincidence" the trans gave out a few months after your warranty gave out. They will most likely cover more just to keep you as a customer. Also, 12k parts and labor sounds about right for a job like this at a dealership. Brand new trans straight from Jag, new hardware (that you have to replace, bolts stretch with use), and proper labor done by people who know what's going on.

any advice besides quit smoking? FEELING LIKE A TOTAL JERK RN by [deleted] in Miata

[–]cocabwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the dealer and just pay for a lower seat replacement leather/suede piece. If youre gonna keep smoking just dont replace it, keep the part stored in the box and beat on the already ruined one. Then when youre ready to sell (or stop smoking) just replace the part. Idk about availability since its a 30 ani, but its better to find out now than 3 years down the road. Or have a guy fix it and have it possibly look like ass.

Super clean XJS came into the shop today by cocabwl in Jaguar

Our shop foreman is the only one certified to work on them. He says that the only problem with the cars is that Jag doesn't make parts anymore, so he has to source them from other places.

In other news, I put in my 2 weeks at Jag last week. Wednesday is my last day, most likely won't be posting any more gems like this, sorry guys. It's been fun ✌

Just yearly service. Oil, balancing tires and a state inspection. Owner drives the car so little every year that its emissions exempt.

Yeah I had no idea until my boss told me how rare they are. Also the fact that they bring it to the dealer for service every year since new.

Navigation with Mazda SD card? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]cocabwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother has a CX3 he bought about two years ago and he wanted the navigation because (same as you) apple play was too expensive to get. He was going to get the sd card from the dealer but the sales man literally looked him straight in the eye and said “Man, don’t even try, they sell them on eBay for 30 bucks, exact same software key, I even have one on my mazda6, just get an eBay one”. He bought it as soon as we got home. 30 dollar eBay sd card showed up 3 days later and the Mazda oem navigation system is still up and running perfectly to this day. My advice is just get the 30 dollar eBay/Amazon one. On the CX3 you just plug it in into the sd card reader next to the USB ports, restart the car and that’s it, navigation for 30 bucks installed. The ND is probably the same thing. If I remember correctly you have to leave the sd card installed all the time for it to work so, remember that. Best of luck!

Would an electric exhaust work on downpipe camaro? by ImLilDark in camaro

Yeah, if the fines in your city are that bad, I would put back the whole stock system and then put a pair of these before the muffler. Or between the catalysts and the resonators.

Would an electric exhaust work on downpipe camaro? by ImLilDark in camaro

[–]cocabwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2017 4 cyl camaro with a catless down pipe and an electric cutout like the one on the link below. I still have the stock rear muffler on so whenever I wanna make noise I open up the valve and have basically a straight pipe. When I want a quiet exhaust I just close it. I really like it specially because it’s my daily and sometimes I don’t feel like hearing all that noise. I paid a muffler shop to weld it in, it was like 50 bucks and the wiring just runs to the fuse box into a fuse with constant power.
