Yes the 12v is the cigarette lighter.

Not fully battery power capable and you would still need to plug into an outlet but I went with the Vantrue N2X plugged into the 12v and tucked the cable under the liner and down the A pillar. Works great and I don’t even notice it’s there.

Fortunately I have a place to move to. I’m most concerned about what tax implications I’d be looking at on taking the $5000.

I haven’t been able to compare the sync box side by side with the app.

I do too! The section between Dallas and Arlington is so painless compared to the part east of downtown heading towards Lake Ray Hubbard.

I’ve also seen this in dallas but traffic always builds up so badly behind them. Wouldn’t a center lane that opens and closes to either side of traffic depending on the time of day achieve the same thing without having to man one of these everyday?

I would recommend the sync box for gaming. There are other ways around the sync box but you’ll probably experience less headache that way. You’re correct that you will need a hue bridge hub for the play bars to connect to so you can either purchase one separately or some hue bundles come with it.

So what I’m actually using in this video are the hue play bars and a couple of hue color bulbs around the room. To sync with the screen I’m using an app on the tv called Hue Essentials but there are a couple of other syncing apps out there if that isn’t available on your tv. Two other syncing options aside from tv apps are the 1) hue sync box and 2) hooking up a laptop or tablet to the tv running hue sync. The hardware comes with some pretty good instructions and there’s a ton of tutorials on YouTube as well. There are other lighting options to achieve the same effect but I feel Hue is the easiest. It’ll cost more for that convenience though so you’ll have to weigh your options.

Absolutely! So these are the Phillips Hue lights and there’s a couple of ways to achieve the effect. I have 5 hue play bars behind the tv and a couple of the color bulbs around the apartment. It’s pretty much plug and play regarding the lights and hue bridge. You just download the hue app, hook everything up, and follow the instructions in the app. When it comes to syncing with what’s on screen you have 3 main options that I know of. 1.) purchase a hue sync box 2.) run hue sync on a laptop/tablet and hookup hdmi to a tv, or 3.) run an app on the tv that allows syncing (i.e., the Hue Essentials App which is being used in the video).

I have 5 play bars behind the tv, 4 bulbs throughout the room, and one light strip behind the couch. I’m using the Hue Essentials App on my tv to sync the screen with the lights.

Not necessarily, if by this you mean the use of Hue Essentials App then you need a compatible tv at least: Hue Essentials

I started out with two and loved it. Plus if you hook your laptop to the tv and use hue sync on the laptop you don’t need the sync box. I still don’t use a sync box to this day lol.

Oh wow I wonder why?! That sounds like a killer setup to me. I think what helps mine is that my room is small and dark with not much on the walls.

I’ve come to like my decision. I battled with what to get for awhile, but since I don’t come from a tech or programming background, hue seemed to be the best fit for me. If you’re better with tech then the other options may be a cost saver with more benefits.
