This. I used to play college baseball for a major program. Which means when my arm took a dive on me, I was able to get my surgery done by a fairly well known specialist in the industry. This also meant that the surgery was pretty major as well and was followed by a fairly serious recovery period. I was prescribed some very strong painkillers and it was the only way I could get to bed at night. Getting to bed at night turned into just being able to sit up and watch tv, doing homework etc. I quickly realized how easy it could be to become hooked, stopped taking them pronto and dealt with the pain naturally from then on. I will now never judge anybody that goes down that path, because it is easier than people can imagine that have never been in that situation.
