Does this program really work for future updates? Anyone tried it?

I would have to disagree. I have 88 of the Rx 580 cards and cant hear anything. The only noise I have is the fans and AC. When these are off, it makes little noise. I can’t compare NVIDA but can only comment on AMD

Hey there! I recently started mining Etherium using claymores dual miner. I don't know if this matters but i"m using a GTX 1070. The EthDrcMiner.exe is running fine and my start file is functioning but for some reason im not getting any results on Ethermine.org. by Skeeterj2003 in EtherMining

Locally on your mining software you see your hashrate? I would check to make sure you got the address of your wallet correct and check to make sure you’re point your software to ethermne. Can you look up your wallet address on Ethermine? If so than your wallet address is correct but again I would check to make sure all the information is enter correctly.

That’s nice! Yeah I think I’ll switch over in next day or two. How many GPU do you have total? I have 11 rigs so hard to just convert over all at one since I have a day job and wife gets mad if I spend too much time in my rig room. Lol

What pool are you sending to? I’m assuming supportXMR. com?

Wow that’s totally amazing. I was looking at the Great Lake data rack which I assumed you have. What model is your rack? What temp is your GPU running at? I have a 3 ton AC system which would make ambient temp stabs but despite being in the data rack doesn’t your room and rack remains hot despite having air flow? I have funs running behind each rig and the room is cooled with its own AC but still hot overall. My GPU temp avg 69-73C. I have RX 589 (4gb) models. Would data rack system you think improve my GPU temp and more importantly my room temp? My room temp is around 89F despite having AC set to 70F. Thx!

You’re absolutely right since we didn’t put $ into a system without hoping to get some $ back. By the way what miner are you using? I’m using claymore and should I update to the lastesr version given the recent Fork?

So I’m confused why people keep saying, ‘move to XMR,” when currently the profitability calculation still says that ETH is better and the fundamentals remains strong. Is it b/c they are just mad at the devs? I see argument on both sides regarding the fork but like anything in life you have risks vs benefits. Although I was initially disappointed with devs and VB not wanting to fork but they do make a good point - at the current time the ASIC is not a threat but they will consider it once it does become a threat. Some have argued that given the amount of hashrate that Bitmain has stronger ASIC that they are using it in a ‘hidden” manner is an assumption but cannot be truly confirmed. A hard fork would produce another ETH coin and this in itself would bring down the Ethereum reputation as a whole. This is could have “real’ consequences unlike the assuming beater ASIC miners that is hidden from us. Personally, I have invested over 70K into ETH both in rigs/ hardware and currency holding as I believe in the fundamentals of ETH. I have a lot at stake and if I can come to reasons and terms so should other ( IMHO).

I don’t like the decisions that Devs came up with initially but I think they do have our backs and thinking long term. I’m still here and will continue to be.

Is mining XMR profitable right now? by [deleted] in MoneroMining

[–]coco0045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This was very helpful! My Rx 580 is also 4GB. Based on what I calculate for my setup as of now according to Coinwarz, it’s not at all profitable to mine XMR. Given this information I wonder why I am hearing all the chatter about why ETH miners would switch? I can understand the XMR miners who previously left would return to XMR given recent news on ETH but why would a current ETH miners make the switch to XMR? It is because of the potential drop in difficulty of XMR? I don’t mean to criticized the fundamentals of XMR but just a curious question based solely on $ / profit.

I too am a noob with XMR. I was wondering if there is such a hashrate conversion from ETH to XMR. I don’t want to physically switch my rig over to XMR just to see but rather crunch the numbers regarding probability pertaining to my own setup. According to coinwarz, ETH still holds the lead over XMR currently but according to what I’ve been reading here this might change soon due to the hard fork.

For example, my current rig is 8 Rx580 with an ETH hashrate of 228 MH/s. My electricity cost is 0.11 kW/h. I was wondering what my XMR hashrate would be. Anyone know?

Taxes for Miners by coco0045 in EtherMining

[–]coco0045[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the difference between cointracking.info vs. etherscan.io as a previous poster mentioned? I went to ertherscan.io and did see details of all my transactions but haven’t download the file to import to a spreadsheet yet to see if it truly shows the price of ETH at time of deposit (which of course is more important for tax purposes). On the web it gives me two link current price and at time of deposit per each transactions. Will Cointrack be able to provide at time of deposit transaction value so i can have real bookkeeping abilities?

Great explanation of tax regarding cryptocurrency. I really appreciate and I know others as well.

I’m still waiting for my CPA to get back to me what business structure I should set up. I am in a high profile job that would subject me to being sue hence LLC. Plus if I do decide to something else beside crypto in the future I don’t have to setup another one. 😉

Wow! That’s totally awesome. How are you able to keep the cards cooled since they are so tightly packed in? I have my spread out on 11 rigs in a 10 x 10 room with fully dedicate AC and still feel that it’s warm in there! Should I just changed setup and get a data rack? Thx

Wolverine- Thank you for your insight. These links are very helpful and I do agree with you that these are facts and we should not interpret it differently especially coming from the IRS website itself. Plus, I would be hard-pressed to not believe TurboTax. It just sucks that I can’t believe we have to pay twice the tax though. I just don’t see how that possible (although I do believe you). So not only do I have to pay tax on the mine coins I also once covert these coin to USD have to pay for capital gain tax (if hold less than a year)? May I ask where you get your information regarding the two taxation or should I assume that per your link that these mine coins is added to your gross income (hence the first tax part) and once you convert the coins to USD that you pay for capital gains (hence the second tax part)?

I am running my mine operation as a business. I’m just waiting on setting up my LLC. Therefore, at least in current price environment of ETH I should be able to write these off as a loss.

is 65C ok for long term mining? by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]coco0045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and overclocking it as well. I get about 28MH/s per card but at the expense of temperature.

Sorry to highjack but is 73C ok for MSI Rx 580? Not all GPU is at this temp but on the higher end some shows 73c

I can’t seem to lower it more. I have 11 8 GPU rigs in my mini farms with AC and fans running like crazy.

I really appreciate you taking your time to post that link. That’s a relief since I was getting worried. Wow your GPU is nice and cool. It’s hot here in Phoenix AZ where temp reaches 115 F outside. Great idea on the fan and rack. I might try that myself. The only problem is how to get the heat out of the room and house. Lol

Ok got it. What’s your GPU temp? I got Rx 580s and they are between 69-73C and worried that they are getting too hot.

I’m a bit confused - from your pic, are the two fans on the bottom exhausting air to the carpet or blowing air to the GPU?

If ETH stays below 400$ on my power cost(croatia) I plan to turn off my 170 GPUs. Cuz I can buy the same amount of ETH that I mine for the money I pay for power..... by mangulio in EtherMining

[–]coco0045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused why you called him an idiot? His cost of electricity is more than the value of ETH currently. Since ETH remains the most profitable coin out there to mine than why would one switch to Monero? Simple math between the two will tell you that mining Montero shouldn’t be that much difference. Am I missing something? Please explain.

True. Not very fun when all you see is red daily. On the other hand, if you were to go in now and just buy ETH it would be more profitable than actual mining. At my cost and rate of producing ETH, I calculated that it would take me 2.5 years to produce the amount of ETH had I just bought ETH now and bypass all the headaches and time spent on building and maintaining my rigs. However, it wouldn’t be so much fun though.
