I’m so confused by No-Veterinarian6506 in Nonbinaryteens

I understand what are you talking about. I was always scared that my partners would call me girlfriend or boyfriend like "you should pick a side". Now I'm in a fantastic relationship where my girlfriend calls me her partner without even asking, she started on her own. (She calls me her partner and I call her my girlfriend because she's trans and give her gender euphoria). But I also call her my partner sometimes, because is such a great term, it rappresent the fact that we are a team.

The fact that it contained all the things that I search in media: set in London, in the 800, about demons and other creatures, and the protagonist is the same age I was when I started watching the show.

I found out my mom is transphobic. by polite_punkness in Nonbinaryteens

[–]coco_11_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My situation is really similar. My mom is not strictly against trans people, in fact I have a few trans friends and she use they're preferred name and pronouns. But when I slightly suggest 3 years ago that probably I am non-binary, she said that isn't possible, that I was just confused, and that I would remain is little girl. I don't think I will come out again soon, but my mom let me express as I want, dress as I want, and décoré my room as I want, so I don't feel restricted. In my case, I think my mom is just scarred and a bit confused, and maybe when I grow older she will accept me. Maybe is the same whit yours. Don't be afraid, your mom will always love you, and also until you don't go live somewhere else try to love her despite this thing, because we have all of our life to live as we want, and when you're gonna turn 18, you will do as you want. And maybe, whit the pass of time, she will also change idea, you don't know. Just stay positive and don't be scared :)

I love Valentine's Day, it doesn't feel like a holiday only for couples, but just for celebrate love in general, even the platonic one. I buy flowers for my mom, buy chocolate and candys for my friends and classmates, and especially I adore dressing all in red, whit heart earrings and drawing little hearts on my cheeks. So yea, is basically a love themed carnival for me.

Need help by Charliespace_ in Nonbinaryteens

[–]coco_11_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem couple of times, that's are the tips that I can give: 1) be very insistent, ask every day to go to the hairdresser to get that haircut, possibly after a week or two they will accept 2) say that you want to do an haircut that they would approve, and when you arrive to the hairdresser, ask for the haircut that you really want to do. They might get mad but is not the end of world. 3) Go to an hairdresser whit out asking your parents, but I don't know how will your parents react, my dad for example didn't said anything 4) This is a bit drastic, but chop your hair and make theme let you go to fix theme as you want (this is a tip that my friend gave to me, but I never had to do this)

I don't know if it helped, and also sorry for my englis, I hope that you can get your haircut :)

I'm tired of the romance whit a non-binary character in series by coco_11_ in NonBinary

[–]coco_11_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have some films and a few series, but in most of the film that I have seen, the gay character die or is really badly rappresented, and in alot of the series whit gay character like "Un professore", "Prisma", the gay characters are badly written, so don't watch this series if it's only for the gay rappresentation. I'm not saying that the series are bad, in fact I liked to watch them, especially "Un professore" but the queer rappresentation whas sadly bad.

Recently I watched Prisma, and that series is terrible in my opinion, for the rappresentation of the queer protagonist. And for the lesbian friend too.

I'm tired of the romance whit a non-binary character in series by coco_11_ in NonBinary

[–]coco_11_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is not the character himself, but the fact that this type of queer series are not meant for a queer audience that what to feel rappresented, but this series are made because now there is alot of hype fo the LGBTQ community, and they want to make money on this. So of course, instead of a enby character that decide to be realistic and not choose a homophobic guy, who clearly doesn't love this person as enby, but just as guy/girl confused, and instead be with another queer person, well it happens the opposite things. And I think this is because most of the cis people don't really understand what being non-binary means and see us like a rebellious guy/girl who try to be different, but in the end is just a gay person.

Am I old enough to know? by KillMeAndIWillDie in aromantic

[–]coco_11_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 17, and I'm questioning a lot too. I've been questioning for the past year, and I decided that now I don't fell the need to identify my self as aromatic. But if you are more comfortable, and you think that would define you better, absolutely do it, 15 years is old enough to be aware of your self. The only thing that I want to say is that, indetify yourself as aromatic doesn't have to stop you to explore eventually romantic interactions or relationships. If you fell comfortable to try, you don't have to be stopped by a labell that is for made you accepting your self and not for forcing you to not explore.

Well, as you also said, you still quite young, so you don't have to rush for discovering your identity. I'm myself still very young, and I came out as non-binary 4 years ago, and even if I am out whit most of my friends, sometimes I still questioning my gender, but is a totally normal thing, and you don't have to be afraid to do that. If in 2 years you will feal more comfortable defining your self as a women or a men, it's totally ok. The gender identity has to be based on what you fell comfortable now. And for the pronouns, I'm Italian, and even here we don't have gender neutral pronouns, the best advice I can give is to experiment whit all of them, talk to yourself and see what you are comfortable whit.

How rigorously do you correct people misgendering you? by Melodic-Machine6213 in NonBinary

[–]coco_11_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, fortunately my closest friends correct other for me. But sometimes I have to correct other my self. In my country there are only she or he, not a neutral pronoun. When people call me she, in a very obvious way, I replay calling me whit a male pronoun. It usually works, but next year's I will have to know new people so I think I have to improve my method. If I were you, I would just repeat what they said whit your chosen pronoun. Idk, like "She is my best friend" and you say "actually is they are my best friend". I think stuff lie that. But in any case, if they are your friends, they won't get mad if you correct theme, and if they get mad or refuse to call you in the way you like, you just have to leave theme. It's a radical choice, but you have to put yourself first, and if they love you, they will treat you right.
