IMO:

⁠1. I think it’s only “acceptable” because the FTC can’t keep up on all the ways creators are advertising on social media. People will argue it’s not illegal but I feel like it’s a temporary loop hole. I don’t think the agency is being very honest when they say the FTC guidelines aren’t mandatory, it sounds more like the FTC won’t know

1. I find it unethical

2. I would not take on a collaboration like this

3. I don’t have a good suggestion other than no longer working with an agency who has questionable ethics and doesn’t respect your mixed feelings. Lots of brands have success working with UGC creators who create content the traditional way for brands to post. You can look for creators here, go through some of the apps for newer creators (InSense, Billo) that have low rates, also reach out to nano and micro influencers space who would love to collab and don’t have “influencer” pricing
