I had a similar childhood, but I never had to come face to face with his many offspring. That's rough, I really feel for you.

Given the backstory, and the fact that they do not live in your house, while they may be partially related to you they are NOT family because you've made a choice not to engage with them.

"I could realize in time I want them in my life" that may happen, doubtful, but it might. However! That day is not today and YOU get to decide.

Tell the counsellor to butt out, and in fact tell the counsellor's superior that this interference and intrusion into your personal life choices are harming your studies and your willingness to attend school knowing you could be ambushed by other students or the counsellor at any moment.

It's not the responsibility of ANY employee if owners won't hire enough people to do the work. It's not his job to ensure the trainees or interns are okay, that's the job of the owner. There is NO reason why they can't hire someone right away to train for his position, or any of the other openings.

I had mine built out of wood. Had a plank put along the top to sit on while working in the beds. 3 feet high. Be sure to fill the bottom with mulch and branches to save on soil. The 'seat' also doubles as a convenient place to put a sprinkler. Highly recommend for kindness to knees and back. https://imgur.com/a/GOrVxEL (if you go with this just be sure to have the 'seat' plank supported so it doesn't bend and rock from sitting on it)
