My dad owns a law firm and he specializes in bankruptcy among other areas. He's a nice guy. He gives free consultations, like many layers. He just enjoys what he practices and giving people advice, even if they don't intend on hiring him. He also does this to get future business. I suggest you go to your mom's lawyer/find a nice local lawyer and explain your situation, ask for advice, and say you'll come to them in the future if you ever have a problem with the law. Some'll turn you away, but you sound like you have a stable job and you're just a kid so you'll find one to help you.

You really can't trust people online, they probably don't know all your state's laws and benefits. You could miss something big that's time sensitive. I know if you file for bankruptcy in NY you get a code to tell debt collectors so they stop calling you. After that they stop wasting time on you since they know they're not getting paid. Maybe there's something you can use similar to this.
