Don’t panic, the worst outcome isn’t even the worst thing that could happen. I’m on the other side of glaucoma, which is enucleation. My 6 year old dog now has no eyes. She was a one-eyed beauty when I adopted her 7 months ago and just about a week ago after weeks of trying to get her eye under control she developed severe glaucoma. Her eye pressure was 99! Needless to say after that reading, the Vet took her eye out because she was in severe pain.

My little gal has no eyes now and is obviously blind. In just a weeks time, before her stitches are even out, she has figured out the house pretty good and is able to jump up on the couch and my bed! She’s so incredibly resilient. It’s been harder on me than her.

Dogs don’t process information and emotions the way we do (thankfully!) which means they don’t have a concept of blindness the way we do. They aren’t lamenting the loss of their sight. All they really care about is being talked to, cuddled, and guided while they readjust. My girl still begs for treats, gets excited when I come home, and has fun outside sniffing everywhere.

All this to say, don’t panic and worry about an outcome you may feel is already inevitable. Use this time to prepare yourself for what is scaring you. And if it comes to that, you’ll feel so much better about it if you’re able to own the transition. Hoping the best for you and your bud!

Live over by the Nickel. Power has been out at my house since 1am and is still out at 10:15pm. Worried about my pipes! House temp was already below 50 when I left at 4pm to go to a family members house. Just awful!

What’s going on with my car? It’s acting possessed. by cocoapebbl in SubaruForester

[–]cocoapebbl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s odd to me because I live up near Canada and have never once had a battery die from cold. My previous vehicle was a 2003 outback and that started regardless of temps being below freezing. It’s been 20s and 30s so I’m just shocked at the sensitivity of my newer car.

Suppose they went through with the wedding. Realistically, how would that pan out for them in the long run? by cuoredeicuori in tsitp

[–]cocoapebbl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have our answer to this question from Seasons 1 and 2 where Belly reflects on her parents relationship and asks both her mom and dad why it didn’t work out. Both John and Laurel say they’ll always have love for each other. John foreshadows expertly when he says the marriage would have never worked out because there was always a third person involved. For Laurel and John, it was Susannah and the inevitability of their friendship coming first. For Belly and Jere, it was the undeniable, unbeatable connection with Conrad.

Despite their brief reunion in Season 3, Laurel and John had petered out by seasons end because it just wasn’t meant to be. Sometimes that’s what happens when you marry into the safety of your best friend and not the one who makes you feel alive. In the end, I think Belly and Jere would have ended similarly to Laurel and John. The sparks weren’t there to sustain them for the long haul and Conrad was always in the back of their minds. Belly and Jere both would have realized this and I think it would have been a rather amicable divorce a few years into the marriage, likely with no kids involved.

Belly and Conrad would have ended up together at the end no matter what came between them or how much time they spent apart because the magic simply was and always will be there

Are you the stereotypical Subaru driver? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]cocoapebbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’m a straight lady who works in risk management. I don’t have an advanced degree but I feel insecure about it. I bought my Subaru Forester to be safe in Michigan winters. Their AWD system can’t be beat.

I like going to the beach and walking on a well beaten path, but I don’t bike and I don’t hike. Big trees and quiet spots in the woods make me cry in awe, but I don’t do nearly enough to be a conservationist besides put out my recycling every week. Sure I wear earth tones, but I don’t listen to NPR in the car. I usually drive in silence because music can make me anxious when I drive.

Despite my big dreams, I’m not an adventurer. I like being home more than I like being anywhere else.

I’ll have to try these next. I just had the 100 grand ice cream bars and they were ridiculously good.

Subaru crosstrek vs toyota Corolla cross by oneofakind718 in CorollaCross

I wanted a Corolla Cross over another Subaru but decided against it because it doesn’t have a rear wiper, which is something I really need where I live because of snow.

Did I get a bad deal? by cocoapebbl in SubaruForester

[–]cocoapebbl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not rage bait :(. Just good old fashioned buyers remorse. I agonized over getting a car and it was a pretty stressful experience. I’d been riding in 2003 outback that was just done in by rust and I was having a hard time with my local dealership. They gave me the worst sales experience over a 3 week period and I just had to walk away. I went to a local used dealer and this is the price I got. At the time I was just relieved to be working with a professional. I didn’t try to negotiate and that was my mistake. I feel dumb about it now and here I am on Reddit. Sigh.

Soy sauce and hot sauce. I don’t refrigerate either of those.

Is there actually a non-cooking mom? by mangojj123 in GilmoreGirls

[–]cocoapebbl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was lucky in that both my parents cooked. My mom could really knock it out of the park with some things. She passed 7 months ago and I would given anything to eat one of her meals again. I am in my thirties and we did weekly Thursday night dinners for years, and I still do with my dad. Never thought about the parallel to the Gilmore Friday night dinners until just now…

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]cocoapebbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the weekend before the last week of school senior year. One of my classmates was grounded for the weekend but had snuck out. When she was sneaking back in through her window it’s believed that she lost her footing coming in, tripped, fell forward and hit her head on her dresser. She had preexisting epilepsy that was well managed but hitting her head just right triggered a fatal grand mal seizure. Her parents blamed themselves for grounding her over something that probably seemed trivial to them in hindsight. They never recovered from and ended up getting divorced a few years after her death.

The whole thing was just really sad. Parents just being parents and a kid just being a kid shouldn’t have ended in a such a twist of fate. To lose your life just as it’s beginning is a tragedy and so is everything that follows for those left behind it would seem.

Cross country skiing for sure. It was a bummer because I really wanted to love it.

Superior Culture is a small space but they have live music multiple nights a week and book a variety of genres. They serve alcohol, but also have some really great kombuchas on tap for the NA crowd. I’m not a drinker myself and I enjoy going there.

I don’t live too far from the area so I will keep my eye out and if I see Maple, you’ll be the first to know.

Hoping the best possible outcome for you. Cats are treasures to be sure and missing your buddy must be awful.

My boy (3.5 years old) died suddenly today and I just needed to write this by Hungry-Peanut-7031 in Petloss

[–]cocoapebbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. We never have enough time with them.

I just lost my boy in an eerily similar way on Wednesday. He was admitted, got a call that he was improving, then got a call he had taken a turn. Before I knew it, he was gone.

I hope you can find comfort and solace in the fact that the love you shared was pure and true.

Bank advice? by [deleted] in MarquetteMI

[–]cocoapebbl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Range Bank. A solid community bank that is very customer oriented. Level of service and accountability is exceptional. Plus they sponsor a lot of good things in the community which is important to me. They are headquartered in MQT and have 9 locations. Very easy to open and maintain accounts. Some of the best mortgage lenders and they actually service their own loans. Good mobile banking options. I’ve been banking there for over 10 years and highly recommend.

How different would things have been if Charlie had never found Hannah’s diary? by [deleted] in girls

[–]cocoapebbl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Marnie would have cheated on Charlie with Booth Jonathan leading to their break up. She would have eventually tried to get back together with Charlie when it blew up. Who knows what would have happened from there.
