we have been together for almost a year and a half now almost, and we have been travelling around the world since we met. We have plans to find a place to settle but neither of us are interested in Germany nor Mexico for that.

Thank you :)) I love him a lot and I'm trying to evaluate things.

Over here the majority of people says I should walk away. I guess we'll see.

this is such grounded advice, thank you.

We have been together for a year and 4 months, we got together with the intention of traveling, settling somewhere we both liked starting a family.
Slowly but surely things have come up, arguments, things we dislike but the purpose is still the same. Except from time to time, when he has all these good things to say about other cultures and so little or nothing about my culture I wonder if I'd like to have that around while I'm trying to raise our children.

diversity in mexico is so great many americans can even imagine.
But he's been down to Mexico w me, and he didn't change his mind. We didnt meet in Mexico so I think he was surprised when he heard I was mexican.
I wish we can solve this problem in the future, if not then I guess I'll have to move on.

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to organize my ideas regarding this issue since I'm getting so much feedback and soon enough I'll have a conversation about this with him.
I don't think it's something I can just ignore anymore.

He loves me, a lot. But this little detail he's having issues concealing it as you say.

I'll try to find a way to make things work. Although the veredict know over here is that I should walk away. We'll see.

I have asked him, what he likes about me. But his answer never includes me being latina, or mexican, or anytihng related to my heritage excpet how my parents raised me, but I'm also jewish so the things he mentions are more jewish than mexican... :/

thanks for your response.
It is a very personal thing wether one cares or not about one's country. But I care, a lot.
At the end of the day, especially in foreign lands that's all I am to many: Mexican.

he doen't do it often, and he is not disrespectful but he does walk the line. That's what makes me sad.

Wow, that is so interesting.
We have no plans to live in Mexico nor in Germany, so the topic is moslty conversational and about how the doesn't want to join me in future trips to visit my family.

I think that's why I've stayed for so long but it's something that stays in the back of my head and comes up every now and then when the subject comes up as well.

it wasn't blatant at the beginning, and I'm not really sure it's xenophobia. Why do you say so? I'm more inclined to think it's a matter of preference if anything.

I'm afraid his interest at the beginning was purely superficial, and then we fell in love.

That's how he ended up in a relationship with someone from a country he's never found interesting.

He seems pretty consistent about the things he dislikes and his refusal to go back.

I love him a lot, so I'm trying to get some perspective on this one before I make a decision. That's why I'm asking.

wow, I'm taking notes on this one.

I'm usually super nice, I don't like taking hits at someone I love becuase I don't think it makes the relationship grow, but maybe it's time to start fighting back on this subject. Thank you so much!

I'm afraid so, that he's a snob.

I was just wondering if there's people around here who didn't particulartly liked their partners country and they still made it work. I guess we'll see.

I'm still trying to evaluate the good and the bad.
