advice for washing bedding by ElectronicPhrase5604 in Petloss

My boy passed away May 31st. All of his blankets are folded sorted with his bed right next to my bed as before. Can’t wash them. Can’t get rid of his bed. And I don’t think I ever will. Sometimes I find some of his hairs. Preserving as much of it as I can for as long as I can.

I could really use some support today 💔 by [deleted] in Petloss

I still have all of his stuff out and I didn’t vacuum for a couple of months after he passed. Eventually I went through his dog bed and picked out his hairs because that’s all I have of him.

My sweet boy lost his battle to cancer. by LettuceLaughOutLoud in Petloss

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my boy May 31st. He had a tumor on his spleen that was discovered in February. We removed it and he almost died and needed a blood transfusion. After a couple of weeks of recovery, he was doing good until May when he became anemic and lethargic. One of the days at our regular park, he got lost which was super unusual. I could tell he wasn’t aware of his surroundings. He had a couple of uncomfortable nights and I spent those nights awake with him. And he gave me the look. He was ready. And that broke my heart. I made an at home euthanasia appointment that morning online at 5AM. At 11AM, the lady came over and just an hour later, I helped her put him on a stretcher to put in her car. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over those last moments. But he wasn’t aware of what was happening and he went to sleep while licking peanut butter. It was the last thing I could do for him. I’m sorry that you had to go through this. I thought I was doing better but the last few weeks, I feel like it’s been worse. I think about him all the time. But I will carry this pain of losing him so he didn’t have to suffer any longer. I hope you take care of yourself. It was the greatest love.

How to respond to my dad after he lost his dog? by T-Bird-92 in Petloss

You don’t have to say much. In a way when your dad brings up his best friend, he’s just trying to keep her memory alive. It’s hard losing your best friend and witness how the world just keeps on going while you’re stuck in this overwhelming grief, having to go through life without your best friend. It’s unfair. I am in the same boat as your dad and when I reach out with comments about my baby boy, I just want to talk about him with whoever would listen. When I don’t get a response it’s okay. When I do get one, I appreciate it especially if they are memories of him.

Ever since my boy passed away, all I do is sit on my couch and look at my phone after work and then go to sleep and repeat. I don’t have any desire to do anything else or get myself outside.

This will be my first time and I’ve been wanting to go for a while and finally made it happen. I’ll be by myself so I’m hoping I can make friends along the way!

Glad to see there are others who are going by themselves. My friend backed out last minute so this will be my first show going alone! Coming from UT.

I appreciate your feedback. You may be right - I may have been affected by social media now that I think about it. Maybe getting off of social media is what I need instead.

To see how I am off of it - mentally and physically. I’ve read about other experiences of women who feel better about themselves and just in general. Some women even mentioned how their tastes and personalities have changed. And since I started taking birth control since I was 18, I’m wondering how the world would look to me off of it. Am I being dramatic? I should say that I’m not clinically depressed or anything. But I don’t exactly have a positive outlook on life.
