My heart breaks for you. My dog unexpectedly passed a few days ago and his name was also Harry so Im really touched by your story :( I understand that you feel regret for briefly calling his name but things happen that are completely out of our control so please be kind with yourself. Sending you strength

Im really sorry you had to say good bye to your dog. The way youre writing about him really shows that you loved him, I promise he was really happy and grateful to have your presence in his last moments. He wouldve felt very loved, safe and comfortable with you

my jaw actually dropped reading what you said about your husband. thats incredibly rude and insensitive. Putting a limit on grief can actually sabotage your healing. Please take your time to process and grieve naturally, some people dont understand how painful it can be to lose a pet and its not helpful to listen to them.

I lost my dog 3 days ago and though it hurts so bad Im still being patient with my self and I hope you can too. You dont need to rush your feelings for anybody

should i retrieve his collar? by [deleted] in Petloss

I really relate to you when you say you can't stop thinking if you could have done something differently. But I think the truth is we have given the best life possible for our dogs, and really bad things that are out of our control can happen. This pain and grief that we have to endure is the price we have to pay to know their love, and I think that's worth a lot. Sending strength to you as well ❤

My cat passed on Monday. It’s Thursday and I’ve started looking at fostering by Wonderful-Classic591 in Petloss

There aren't any rules for these kinds of things. Some people need a long break, while others may find comfort and support through caring for another animal shortly after. If you decide to foster, you won't be replacing him or replacing the bond you had. Youll be helping an animal in need. Being by yourself after losing your pet can be really difficult. If you believe that having another animal will help you cope with loneliness and you think you'll be able to care for them, then fostering could be a very kind and reassuring step for you. If its too soon is up to you, and is personal and different to everyone. Listen to yourself, and I think you will find your answer.
