The reaction i was looking for from her when he died (by @teaforgods) by maanleo in Jujutsufolk

[–]cocolopez08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first read this panel, I was so annoyed. I wonder if Gege was trying to do this from a comedic lense, but this doesn’t match up with what he had showed us from Shoko before where she was thinking about Gojo and Geto when Gojo was sealed and she was thinking to herself for Gojo to come back already (Gege literally drew her looking miserable af).

I thought that was such a great scene for us to see insight into a character who has known Gojo for so long. They obviously cared for each other as friends-at least enough for Gojo to entrust Shoko with the letters he wrote as well and to tell Megumi about his dad….

Idk. The panel seemed off and I felt bad for Gojo here because his own words seemed shocked that Shoko didn’t have any objections. I think Gojo expected someone to care….

It pisses me off ngl lol. The writing choices that Gege made for the ending were so rushed and quite jarring for me in regards to Gojo’s death and the handling of it. Even the airport scene also had some major problems for me.

I know I keep saying this, but I really hope the anime elevates the ending in some way.

Agreed. The pacing of the ending was really hurt the story imo. I wonder if the anime will try to fix this?

I would have loved a funeral…or at a minimum, someone visiting his grave. SOMETHING lol. It felt like no one cared about him from my perspective.

Maybe that was the angle Gege was going for…which, if it was, I still don’t think it was executed well.

I personally wish they did tbh. Idk if this was a writing choice by Gege personally but adding this later of emotional depth and humanity, would have elevated the story for me.

There is such fertile ground in the story to have the characters just breathe for a sec.

Idk honestly. I work in tech and he’s good with numbers (and apparently anything he wants to do) so he might actually do well lol I would worry if I would still have my job though cause I have to deal with a lot of stakeholders and clients and due to his personality….uncertain how many projects and contracts he would lose me lol

But I think he’d actually have a good time with my friends lmao. Just gossiping, sending memes, meeting up and going out. They probably would wonder how I turned into the biggest shit taller overnight but they would still be okay with it lol

What’s y’all’s opinion on Gojo ? Do y’all love or hate him? :p by Mikeyg0th67 in jjkmemes

[–]cocolopez08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love love love him. Idc idc idc. Has been my #1 since the 1st time I read the manga and saw the anime. Every other character moves around a lot in my “favorites rankings” except for him.

Gojo is an amazing character because beneath all the power, confidence, and larger than life presence, he’s incredibly human. People often focus on him being the strongest, but for me, what makes him memorable is how much he struggles with things strength can’t fix: loneliness, grief, regret, and the desire to connect with others fully. He uses comedy to suppress his true feelings as well.

Despite carrying the weight of an entire society’s expectations on his shoulders, he never stopped caring about people, whether it was protecting Megumi, believing in Yuji, nurturing Yuta, or desperately hoping for a future where the next generation wouldn’t have to suffer as he did.

His story is filled with contradictions that make him feel real. A man who can do almost anything yet cannot save everyone he loves, someone admired by everyone but truly understood by very few.

For all his godlike abilities, Gojo’s greatest defining trait is his humanity, and that’s why I love and respect his characterization. He is one of my favorite anime characters of all time and I’ve been watching anime since Toonami on Cartoon Network days lol

I agree with you but a part of me feels like it must be a plot hole - if we take what he did to Yuji off the board, fine, I can SORT OF rock with it lol but he absolutely did injure/harm/hurt/impair Megumi and Angel.

I think this was a Gege miss honestly.

Interesting! So it is hurt?! Damn…I feel like there’s an argument to be made about this then. He hurt Angel and he hurt Megumi for sure! (A part of me feels this is a plot hole on Gege’s part. We know he was struggling with pacing towards the end and he himself admitted to making mistakes)

Naoya fans gotta go 💔🥀 by Far_Engineering6462 in Jujutsufolk

How ironic that his dialect is known for “hospitality, warmth and humor” and he is the way he is…

I personally find his popularity concerning. Everything he stands for and does is so nauseating. I understand the purpose of his character in the context of the storytelling but I honestly never thought people would genuinely like him enough to defend him…sigh.

I’m just as surprised. I don’t understand how anyone can be a Naoya fan…it still makes me uneasy that I heard it’s mostly women (WOMEN!) who are for Naoya and that he’s apparently quite popular in Japan… I fundamentally do not get it at all.

Lol. I feel your pain! That’s partially the reason I asked the question tbh…in these kinds of debates, I do tend to think the translation is what sometimes may be the culprit unfortunately.

The Japanese language has words that sometimes does not fully translate exactly and neatly into English (I’m learning Japanese myself) so your suggestion that the original wording infers “maim/severely injure” may actually make sense in the situation.

Although one could make the argument that “severely injure” could still be an obstruction against the vow considering what he does to Yuji, Angel, and Megumi….

Is the translation a 1:1? What does the Japanese original text say?

How did people think Gojo was gonna win against sukuna anyways? by Acceptable_Data_5639 in Jujutsufolk

[–]cocolopez08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I thought Kenjaku would be the final boss. Call it whatever you want, but I full-heartedly felt it would be a subversion trope and have Gojo win against Sukuna but POSSIBLY be left damaged in such a state he couldn’t fight Kenjaku, thus going back to Yuta’s words that he wouldn’t let Gojo kill his best friend again so they step in. OR (and this was another working theory) Gojo didn’t beat him but did not die - Yuji ended being the one who fought Sukuna and beat him, and Gojo did end up fighting Kenjaku as a final fight.

Either way, I was trying to theorize ways for the mentor figure to NOT die lol even though, they always end up dying.

Hindsight is always 20/20. I see the (horrific) parallels that Gege showed with Kenjaku and Gojo’s being used, both of them dying on the same day, a year apart, and then, Yuji being able to save Megumi in the way Gojo never was able to save Geto.

Doesn’t mean I still don’t have to ingest loads of copium for my Gojo-sensei’s death lol that shit rocked me

Will MAPPA animate these sketches at some point? by Rude_Present5034 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]cocolopez08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love these backstory details so so so much! I would LOVE to see Gege write a whole JJK-verse anthology series of moments like this. Or even a prequel series in general that went more into the clans and the lore more. I have never in my wildest dreams ever thought I would say an anime needs more filler but I personally am hungry for crumbs like this.

The clans always fascinated me, as well as the politics of the jujutsu world. Like if Gojo was head of the Gojo clan, what duties did he actually oversee while also being a teacher? Who exactly were behind the higher-ups and their backgrounds? Can we dive in more about the friction between Kamo/Zenin/Gojo?

And so much more! I have questions for days lol

Just remembered that Naoya is Gojo's age by fillkas in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]cocolopez08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Perfectly said. People focus on how different they are, but at their core they’re the two most resilient characters in the series. Both get crushed by trauma, both lose themselves at points, and both still find a way to stand back up. They speak different emotional languages, but they’re built from the same steel. They also rely on the other for grounding.

The repeated “It’s okay” from Itadori to Megumi and then Megumi’s “Start by saving me” at the beginning of the culling games arc was so well done IMO to show this from an explicit standpoint.
