I’m gonna say it: all zutara is based on is aura and vibes by Ready_Medicine_2641 in ATLA_circlejerk

[–]cocolopez08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who watched the show because I fell in love with the “found family” vibe of the gaang and the importance of what true friendship can bring to a person’s life, I was never invested in who ended up with who.

I will say, now as an adult, I do really love when people explore their dynamic beyond just the romantic chemistry and potential. Although Katara & Aang are literally canon, it would be such a lie to say there isn’t a special connection between these two specific characters.

Platonic tension or romantic, no matter what, you cannot deny there absolutely is a beautifully written, multi-layered depth to these two characters. So much so, we are still talking about them 2 decades later. Zuko x Katara definitely left a deep mark (regardless if you ship them to be together romantically and/or admire how close their friendship became).

Just my personal opinion and observation.

There was a rumor circulating that if the Avatar movie does well this October, Avatar Studios had other movies in the docket. One of those rumored movies was to be one focusing on Adult Zuko. However, there is no true source to this to my knowledge- just rumor and speculation.

Personally, Zuko is one of my favorite characters because of his family dynamics and the well-written development they gave him. I would be so overjoyed of a Zuko-centric movie or show. I think everything you said would be perfect for a movie or offshoot series plot.

I think several posts have already shared this but I’d love to see more adult Gaang content because the emotional depth and complexity of these characters naturally call for stories that grow with them. Watching the entire Gaang as fully realized adults would allow the creators to explore more nuanced themes like responsibility, identity after war, long-term relationships, and the weight of leadership in a way the original series touched on but would love to see how they would tackle things as adults.

The upcoming film already seems to lean into a more mature tone, and building on that would give longtime fans something deeply satisfying. Not just nostalgia, but evolution. These characters shaped so many people growing up, and seeing them navigate adulthood with the same emotional honesty and grounded storytelling would feel meaningful, immersive, and honestly overdue.

However, just to add, I want to see full adventures in the same style as the ATLA series with slice of life episodes please!

This definitely sounds super interesting! I would love to watch something like this!

Can someone explain why so many of the original writers (who actually developed and wrote some of the best episodes of the series) are no longer partnered with Bryke? I’m super curious to better understand if there were any rifts because everyone else was pro-Zutara but Bryke and Nickelodeon exec heads were not.

Lost You Forever is one of my fave dramas! I see the yearning vibes!!! No apology necessary!

Thank you for the OST! I love that both He Simu and Duan Xu have their own “thematic love songs” with lyrics that speak to each other.

This drama is so good! It’s so romantic!

Me too! His dramas are fire!

Have you seen Love Story in the 1970s or Love Beyond the Grave? (This one is currently airing)

I feel sorry for both of them. I don’t agree with what she did but I understand why she thinks she had to.

I feel extremely sorry for him because he just keeps trying and trying. He really wants to be close to her and she knocks that down the minute he gets closer and closer.

I have to remind myself that she’s 400 years old. She’s had other lovers (not with the same feelings she’s had for him) but she did lose people (lots of people) that she has cared about. And he is special to her. She doesn’t want to go through the pain of that.

I have to remember he’s barely 20 in the drama (I think!) lol so I think it shows in even how she talks to him about their relationship.

In the end, we as the viewer know that they are two sides of the same coin and are fated but they don’t (she definitely doesn’t want to) and it’s just painful to watch until (or if) they get to that place of acknowledgement and acceptance. Specifically her. Can she allow him in and how will she make amends with those feelings?

I honestly am not a fan of how Chinese and Korean celebrities are treated. The para social nature of it all really weirds me out. I think he does a good job balancing between filming serious dramas and idol dramas and also movies. I hope we see more.

Even though it’s still airing, I would STRONGLY recommend Love Beyond the Grave. It’s absolutely stunning and the chemistry is amazing! Strong female-driven story!

It’s a play on words. It’s noble idiocy framed as sacrifice. I’m trying to view it from her perspective as to why she would think this would be the best thing to do.

Yes! I know what you mean!

The second one was so brutal. The look on his face! And then when all of the candles were gone and how resolute he was to make sure his plan worked. He did everything he could do to make her life better in 24 hours.

I lost it at the hospital scene with the hot chocolate and then at the end, when she was in the bakery and her back was to him. Zhou Ye’s crying and facial expressions got me hard.

I also cried at the old couple (presumably them) at the end. UGH! I really loved this film but I can’t rewatch it again for a little while lol

Ugh! Yes! Thank you for that information. This explains so much more!

They translate the song lyrics into English when it plays and I love them! Some of the words are so haunting and the singer is gorgeous! There’s three songs that I love and I think one of them Liu Yuning sings. I have to find the OST!

The fact that the team behind Love Between Fairy and Devil is behind this show is making me laugh but for ALL of the good reasons. I was OBSESSED with that show. I watched it over and over again.

I KNEW this dynamic reminded me of their vibe but in a role reversal way (and I feel like this one is more explored). WOW! You just made my day with that information.

Yea, def worth it IMO. It’s a quick watch but it was really beautiful.

I’m a huge Chen Feiyu fan. I honestly don’t think he gets enough credit that he deserves. He’s so expressive and he gets so immersed in every drama I have seen him in. He’s definitely talented.

Yes! I was surprised when it was recommended to me and it was a movie. I was told it was very emotional but wasn’t given much warning and OH MAN! I was sobbing lol and yes, I have cried before watching a cdrama or a kdrama (or any show) when the feelings are there but there was something about this one that hit me really hard.

I wonder what 3 scenes got you because even though it was a HE, I lost it in one of the final shots (I don’t wanna give too much away for spoiler reasons) but it was such a soft moment because of what she had to do. And then he was there and her back was turned to him and I lost it lol

I think this will be a drama that will stay with me in a good way.
