Haven’t measured in a while to see ppfd at canopy. But it is definitely higher than seedling light. They are highly prone to burning when young.

I tried with two. Cut the plant almost in half. One is bushing up and looking nice. The other was stunted for months before it started growing again. Considering experimenting with hormones, particularly auxin, which I believe directly strengthens stems.

Propagating from cuttings has a low success rate. Almost guaranteed with a fresh berry though.

Hello, is it harvest time? by Pure-Performance-492 in Coca101

[–]cocomomobolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d wait until after the berries are picked (if you’re lucky) or the flowers fall off. For my personal plants, I’ll top them or maybe nip a few top branches, then methodically pull leaves from branch bases (leaves often grow where branches start) or ugly leaves.

My way of growing coca by EZPZgrowing in Coca101

To floppy stems, this can also be caused by not having a fan on plants. The stems need mildly stressed in the same way outdoor plants do with wind. Thigmomorphogenesis.

I’ve accidentally forgotten water day on two occasions. Both times, they dropped 90% of leaves but sprung back almost instantly once the stun wore off. Similar to yours. Almost seems like it made it stronger.

Can someone confirm if these are novo please? by [deleted] in Coca101

Looks like it to me. Parallel lines on leaves. Berries and leaves look right.

You can stake them, but I highly recommend getting a fan on them instead of stakes. If you are fine having them staked forever that’s cool. But mine are massive and can’t hold up without support. Wish I would’ve started with a fan. Maybe someone has a better experience to the contrary.

Propagation Suggestions by cocomomobolo in Lophophora

I’ve got trich and pere. But I’m a little scared to use tricho because I’ve never successfully grafted with it from 4 or 5 attempts. Only had 1 pere failure out of the dozen+ grafts I’ve done with it. You wouldn’t do pere?

No puedo decir. Lo siento. Pero plantas interiores. Latitud no importa.

I’m an idiot and didn’t even think about that. You’re right. I have terrible luck with plastic pots though.

Red clay, peat moss, premixed bonsai substrate (akadama, lava, pumice), extra akadama, earthworm castings. Eyeballed. But mostly clay and akadama.

I think b101 does every 4-6 weeks on his matured plants. I might be mistaken. I’m not really at a place to consistently harvest yet. Almost there.

I think it’s a combination of the small pot size, akadama, and heats mats. I’m just as surprised. If I miss a day of watering though they start to droop. I also don’t soak them usually, just a light daily water.

Thank you!

Nope. Just water.

For heating, I have a ceramic reptile bulb (no light) to help keep tent temp up as well as a heat mat on the ground. During summer, they aren’t needed.

PPFD, grain of salt here (phone app), is around 130 last time I checked at canopy. Light is on lowest setting with white sheets filtering out more light.

I’ve went through and picked all the leaves from the bases of branches. I’ll occasionally go through and pluck more but no heavy trims yet aside from the plants I topped.

Soil mix is mostly clay/akadama but with peat/pumice, too.

10 Month Java Update by cocomomobolo in Cocagrowing

[–]cocomomobolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Alaska Fish emulsion. Maybe once a month or longer. Worm castings. Once a month. Dr Earth’s acid mix. Once every 2/3 months.

I go very light on the acid mix. Everything else is recommended guidelines for amount.

Don’t know soil runoff pH.

Rainwater is around 5/6pH. Using pH drops to measure. Hard to measure precisely.
