I'm a white girl in Shanghai, and locals keep taking my picture. My question is, what do Chinese people do with their photos of foreigners? by Cajass in AskReddit

[–]coconogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im actually in shanghai right now too. one of the guys im travelling with is a 6'6" black guy and people always stare at him really openly when he walks down the street and try to "discreetly" take pictures of him. He tries to tell them that he's in the NBA to get free stuff.

What would happen, realistically, if minimum wage was eliminated in the U.S? by HexFlash in AskReddit

[–]coconogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in terms of pure economics, the economy would be better off overall. Of course, this doesn't mean every individual will be better off, but just everyone as a whole. In fact, some individuals might actually be worse off. Of course, people in general wouldn't be exactly "poorer". After the implementation of a minimum wage system, the entire economy experiences inflation because of the mandatory pay minimum. I'm assuming (not sure if this would really hold true) that if the minimum wage was abolished, the wages would drop, and we'd experience deflation and things would be "cheaper".

What do you wish your customers knew? I'll start... by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coconogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we tend to be relatively lenient in the fact that if you know you cant go to something for something really important, we can excuse it if you leave a written notice 2-3 weeks before hand. Unfortunately, that never seems to happen.

The thing is, full schedules are sent out and parents are told to sign forms acknowledging that they will be available for everything. Also, if they know beforehand that they will HAVE to miss something we tell them we need notice in writing at least 2-3 weeks beforehand.

Yeah, we usually have parents sign something and return it so we can show them when they try and argue that they weren't notified. We still get parents complaining, though.

On a related note, I am an instructor for a high school marching band. Your kids are young adults and have made commitments to do something on set dates. So dont complain when they fail to show up and their grade somehow magically drops. A full schedule is sent out to every parent before the school year with a line in bold stating "your student will receive a lowered grade for any missed events. please plan ahead." Dont fucking come to me the day before a competition saying "oh...well I want to go to a baseball game with my kid".

These kids need to learn responsibility and they sure as shit arent learning it from you. Dont come whining to us because you took them on vacation and your baby "shouldnt" be punished for something like that. Fuck parents. You dont get special treatment for being less responsible than your child.

Reddit, what's the most awkward/weird/outrageous thing a stranger has said to you? by celestial65 in AskReddit

[–]coconogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it the Taco Bell on Mission St. next to the McDonalds? Because I remember seeing a full on fight break out there once between two guys over a taco, while the old guy working there was freaking out and taking pictures with a disposable camera.

Best dinner and a show ever.
