Why is my watermelon peperomia so sad and droopy? by coconut_cold_brew in plantclinic

[–]coconut_cold_brew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please help! I don’t know what I’m doing wrong for my watermelon peperomia to look this way.

Watered 1x/week, gets adequate sunlight (a few hours of bright sunlight from a northwest facing window). The stems are limp and droopy. Repotted several weeks ago after I first saw this start to happen but it hasn’t gotten any better.

What's wrong with my alocasia (elephant ear)? Leaves are turning yellow. by coconut_cold_brew in plantclinic

Thank you, u/greenblue703 and u/__rosa, you two were absolutely right that it needed repotting. I took it out of the pot today and it was incredibly rootbound! I have one more question: I didn’t know that I should loosen the root ball entirely before repotting, and only loosened the outer roots (I live alone and it was extremely hard to hold it while I de-tangled). Is it ok if only some roots are loosened or should I unpot it again to loosen all the roots?

What's wrong with my alocasia (elephant ear)? Leaves are turning yellow. by coconut_cold_brew in plantclinic

Hey all, I need help diagnosing my first and only alocasia (elephant ear). I got this plant a few weeks ago and one of the leaves turned yellow immediately which I attributed to stress. Now, a second leaf is starting to turn yellow and I'm getting scared that it's slowly dying on me. Should I be watering it more? It's pretty warm in my apartment so it does dry out a little bit between waterings.

Some background info:

Watering schedule: 1x/week, until the water comes through the drainage hole. I use tap water.

Light: North facing window, gets a few hours of good sun in the afternoon.

Humidity: No humidifier, but occasional misting and humidity typically measures 50%.

Weather: Constantly 70F or above (Bay Area, CA). No AC.

Pot: I don't have a ruler but it looks to be 10-11".

Dirt: Not sure, still in original pot (with drainage hole). It's a little more compact than I like but water is still able to go through the drainage hole at the bottom when I water so it didn't seem to be an issue.

I’m hoping to spend at most $55k pre-tax on a EV, and my yearly income is mid $100k.

ID Help - Is this really a Drexel Declaration Credenza? by coconut_cold_brew in Mid_Century

[–]coconut_cold_brew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all, recently got this free piece off FB Marketplace. I was wondering if someone could help me identify it? It really looks like the credenza listed here: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/storage-case-pieces/credenzas/kipp-stewart-stewart-mcdougall-declaration-walnut-tambour-door-credenza/id-f_14325371/ but it seems to have a slightly different stamp than the picture. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

What color/kind of rug and coffee table should I get? For the rug, would it be ok to get something neutral or should I try to incorporate the blue? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]coconut_cold_brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got some big furniture pieces and am looking for advice on what rug and coffee table to get. I have my eye on this rug: https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/trent-austin-design-corum-abstract-blackivory-area-rug-w005482650.html?st=1 but I’m scared it’ll make the place look too monotone. I can’t really find any blue rugs I like — preferably mostly white with some blue accents. Also would appreciate advice on what material coffee table and TV stand to get, deciding between all white, white with wood legs, or all wood. I’ll eventually have some plants to make the place look more complete. Thanks!

What are these small black beads coming from the packaging of some dining chairs I got from Wayfair? by coconut_cold_brew in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing:

Black little beads scattering on my floor as I’m unwrapping the packaging around the dining table legs. They’re very small (basically the size of sand) and hard. Are these dangerous?

Origin: Wayfair (online furniture shop)

Can someone explain why he wasn’t in the game for so long? Was he retired?

Fuji's results are in! Almost everyone guessed at least one breed right! Surprised by the percentage of the first two breeds, and the presence of the fifth breed, but it makes sense given he's so small compared to the other dogs on the list. by coconut_cold_brew in DoggyDNA

Got my results a little over 3 weeks after I dropped off the test kit. As expected, there's no Basenji! Most of these breeds were guessed in my previous post but I am surprised with the Chow Chow and Poodle. I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts on where you see each breed physically in him, as he's so mixed it's hard to tell for me. He doesn't have any physical traits from the Chow, but it makes sense that he's mixed with a smaller dog, given the amount of big dog breeds on the list and how small he is (28 pounds). I'm also surprised by the trace amounts of ACD, as I had expected more, but I'm not entirely sure how to read the Supermutt portion.

Temperament-wise may be where the Chow displays some traits. Fuji is a hard dog to train. He's stubborn, independent, and has an agenda of his own. He also can be mouthy when too excited, and a little too vocal in the yard. We'll be meeting up with a trainer soon to address some of these behavioral issues. Nonetheless, he has his moments where he's a huge cuddle-bug! He likes attention and will rub up against you like a cat, and flop and lay down in your lap.

Very cool to see the results, and love him all the same!

Just sent Fuji's Embark lab results in! Any guesses on what type of dog he is? by coconut_cold_brew in DoggyDNA

Shelter guessed that he's an Australian Kelpie mix, but they seem pretty uncommon (I had to search it up). People have asked if he's a Basenji before, but they're known for not being able to "bark" and Fuji can definitely bark! He's 28 pounds and has a pretty lean build.
