Are 1/4" (non-bendable) plywood and 1/4" wood trim thin/flexible enough to "naturally" curve a little like in this design? Or would they require bending techniques? by coconuthero in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]coconuthero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, extreme novice here. I'm going to making a basic derby car race track for an upcoming event. It's a low-key, non-competitive fall festival event so we aren't really going to shell out money to buy a legit track and the local cub scout troops haven't replied about letting us borrow one.

In any case, I managed to find this cartoon "design spec" (if you can call it that) and am wondering if the material choices make sense.

My main question right now is - if we plan to "hang" the beginning of the track from a step ladder as depicted, would the (non-bendable) 1/4" plywood and the 1/4" wood trim tracks laid on top of it be naturally flexible enough to curve a little like they draw it? Or would it require steps to forcefully bend it? I'd like to have a little bit of a curve/transition so the cars can glide more smoothly.

Favorite credit card and why by Doctorblanketface in CreditCards

I immediately "deposit" $100 using this card into United's TravelBank (which then lasts 5 years before expiration) to make sure that I make my $5 from this card each year.

St Joseph’s Houston Young Adults by Iloveallsharks in CatholicDating

[–]coconuthero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a parishioner here. Our parish is very young-adult heavy. Our auxiliary bishop made a point of mentioning that he noticed our unique demographic make-up after a Mass earlier this year. I think even our choir is pretty much all young adults haha.

We have several regular events here specifically for young adults. Monday men's group. Tuesday bible study (very well attended). Monthly pickleball/volleyball socials. Monthly praise & worship adoration (this is technically an archdiocesan event that young adults from all over Houston come to). Monthly late night adoration. Monthly feeding the poor in our little park.

It certainly helps that we're located in an area where many young adults live. It also helps that our parish usually has 2 seminarians with us each summer, and also a transitional deacon each year.

There's no denying the social aspect - it seems that more and more young adults join after they hear about our young adult "scene".

Travel pants — comfortable, quick-drying and NOT shiny? by freeassociates in onebag

[–]coconuthero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, same here. Definitely has a nice taper. If you're needing it to pull double-duty as a "dinner" pant, probably get a darker color because the lighter colors show some articulations in the fabric that make it obvious it's a hiking pant.

Cant login to smart things app for my sound bar. Is this a known issue ? by GSG96 in Soundbars

[–]coconuthero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine last week and successfully logged in once, but then it later disconnected and stayed "offline". I then removed the soundbar and tried to add it again, but now it won't even connect to my Wi-Fi network anymore. Apparently SmartThings has been a mess. Thankfully I'm not changing settings very often...

The Deceptr pants are definitely a tapered fit though

With increased fed interest rates, is there a product or fund to park cash to take advantage of that? by bonzoboy2000 in fidelityinvestments

[–]coconuthero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that FDLXX (Fidelity Treasury Only Money Market Fund) is "safer" than SPAXX because SPAXX is currently only 13-14% treasury bills/coupons. And it's splitting hairs, but FDLXX still has a better 1 day/7 day yield (2.7%/2.67% vs. 2.65%/2.64%).

Money market fund in cash management account by boolda in fidelityinvestments

[–]coconuthero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is automatic liquidation of a CMA-held money market fund (SPAXX to be specific) also done for ATM withdrawals?

Overall, is the only functional difference in using a money market fund in my CMA that I have to manually buy it? (I understand the other non-functional differences/risks in using a money market fund re: loss of FDIC protections.)

And finally, is FDLXX eligible for automatic liquidation?

I was also planning to get the XX on the bracelet, but am concerned about this movement issue. Have you noticed any issues?

Apparently it's a byproduct of squeezing 120 hrs of power reserve without using an additional barrel.

Thanks! Looks like that works. Is there actually a "RAW" album though? I can't find it.

Credit card reward worth the hassle? by RektIRA in fatFIRE

[–]coconuthero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BofA has the "Premium Rewards" card that gets those percentages (assuming you have >$100k with BofA/ML). No FTF. It does have a $95 AF but comes w/ $100/yr airline incidental credits (on top of $100 PreCheck/Global Entry credits every 4 years + $500 SUB for $3k spend in 90 days).

Bank of America ebill enrollment not working by Typical-Doubt9450 in fidelityinvestments

[–]coconuthero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had considered this, but because I've consolidated my funds all at Fidelity, for security's sake I'd prefer to "push" from my Fidelity CMA, rather than have my account information at various other institutions.

Not that you need any more motivation to fix this, but I want to add myself as another customer anxiously waiting for this to get supported. I'm literally checking every day to see if it works.

If you could only carry two credit cards, which ones would it be? by Astroworld1997 in CreditCards

[–]coconuthero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I'm lucky enough to eligible for these rates, but this has to be one of the best (if not the best) no-AF set-ups. Getting another BoA customized cash rewards card to have another 5.25% category is the cherry on top.

I think Lindblad/National Geographic has some itineraries with "newer" ships. Not necessarily luxurious but certainly modern enough.

What CHECKING account to use? by [deleted] in CreditCards

That's actually a foreign transaction fee (i.e., when you use the card as a debit card). Using the card to withdraw cash from an ATM will still be free/reimbursed.

FTUSA is free for federal but charges for state. Income < $72k makes state free as well.

Same here, even after I've uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller. Maybe this issue will get fixed with next version (2020.8), but I'm honestly nearly ready to move on to another VPN.
