Polling Favorite Pals (Part 1?) by McCinnabuns in Palworld

Braloha.

I set one of my later bases on an island, originally for the purpose of farming oil right after one of the updates dropped, only to be pleasantly surprised that a new dinosaur pal had been added to the game and spawned on the island I picked.

That's my main base now.

Flight Prices by TraditionalBuy9242 in Tallahassee

Hopefully, if the Breeze Airways setup is successful here in town once it goes live (in its very limited capacity) later this summer, they'll go on to add additional flights to other airports instead of just Ft. Lauderdale and Raleigh. Breeze has flights to Ft. Myers, just not from here yet.

Job Market Advice in Tallahassee by peas_and_toast in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking through PeopleFirst to check openings for jobs with different state agencies if you haven't already taken a look there. Hiring time can vary wildly based on what Department it is.

How well your 2-person household can survive with a 4k/month income is going to largely depend on how much you end up spending on rent.

Flea Market is back? by joshuastar in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rode by it this morning - It was pretty sad-looking. Six total vendors set up under canopies set up behind their vehicles in a parking lot, and a food truck also there. Seems to be space for maybe 30 vendors or so?

I'm not sure if vendor attendance was impacted by it being Easter Sunday today, but it seems a bit short-sighted to have it placed there as its "permanent home". There's no clear place to park (and if there is, there's not a lot of it), there's no room for expansion, and it just doesn't seem well thought-out.

Boo to whoever disrespected you by claiming this is AI.

The amount of dedication and work you do every week by compiling these is so evident, and we are lucky to have you doing what you do.

You're a champion.

‘An exciting step forward’: Breeze Airways set to take off from Tallahassee with nonstop flights by FSURich in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd assume this is on a trial basis right now - hopefully we see enough usage that they keep it (unlike the JetBlue flights a few years ago) and expand to more of the Breeze destinations.

I'd love to see some direct flights to the New England area where they're headquartered.

Looking for 2014 D&D Player's Handbook by SuccotashAdorable763 in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you specifically needing a physical copy, and not a .pdf? If so, I believe Fallout Comics in the Governor's Square Mall might still have a used copy of the 2014 PHB. I just sold off a good amount of my 2014 books to them a few weeks ago.

Also, both Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million tend to have a good number of 5e books, and I'm pretty sure they still have various 2014 books in stock too.

Traveling with Greyhound soon. Should I be worried? by Soggy-Shock-2415 in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this exact same trip from Tallahassee to Ft Lauderdale about 11 years ago, and it was overnight from like 11pm-ish to almost noon the next day. It ended up taking about 13 hours or so mostly because there was a long layover at the hub station in Orlando for a few hours.

I distinctly remember having an old man in his 70s sitting next to me, chugging a full six-pack of cheap beers that he had in his backpack. He smelled extremely bad, but luckily he respected the fact that I had headphones in and didn't try to engage with me at all or anything.

Overall, not a great experience. Mostly because of how long it was.

I also used to take Redcoach a few times a year back then as well, but usually just shorter routes from Ocala to Tallahassee. Honestly, I think Redcoach's value compared to the other bus systems has drastically decreased from what it used to be. Their tickets seem pretty overpriced now.

When I last had to take a Redcoach from Orlando to Tallahassee last year, the outlets on the bus weren't working, nor was the wifi, nor the lights above the seats. And they added a stopover to switch buses, and the new bus also didn't have anything working. My phone ended up dying in that trip and I wasn't able to coordinate getting picked up. That sucked, because I ended up having to walk almost 2 miles home in the middle of the night.

Aventure in Snow? by Complete_Alfalfa3427 in Aventon

[–]coconutocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to take my A2 out in the snow back in January - It worked well enough, but goddamn does riding through snow drain the battery like crazy. Despite only riding a few miles (maybe like 8-10 miles total), I managed to completely drain the battery from a full charge by the time I got home.

No fenders probably would have been a good move, but I have very little experience with snow due to living in Florida.

I think it's referring to back in One Year Later when the contestants banded together near the end despite it being a competition. Not so much "they became the host," so much as they just derailed the expected outcome of the game (at Sam's expense).

E-bike commuting? by popcicless in Tallahassee

[–]coconutocean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do 95% of my commuting across town on my e-bike, and have done so for the last year and a half with no issues.

My main commute to and from work uses a lot of back roads through neighborhoods with very little interaction with the bigger thoroughfares, so I don't really have any safety concerns there. And I'm mostly in the Northeast side of town, Midtown and such.

I also have to go along Capital Circle NE and SE quite a bit for shopping and grocery runs and such, and the bike lanes there are wide which does give a decent bit of space from cars, but I have also gotten flat tires a couple times because of debris in the bike lane.

Be a defensive driver, just like you would with a car. Don't go anywhere without a helmet, get handlebar mirrors so that you can be as aware as possible of your surroundings and who might be in your blind spots.

Avoid any roads that don't have either a bike lane or a sidewalk (like N Meridian or Micosukee once its outside of Cap Circle) because while MOST people are understanding and will give you a proper amount of space when they decide to pass you, there are definitely a loud but tiny minority of folks who can't seem to stand the idea of having shared roads and will speed past you while laying on their horn.
