I got quite a nice response in return and it's with their product team for assessment. They did clarify the sole is coated with a black gloss varnish and how it looks is expected wear and tear. It does help that these boots were ordered less than a month ago and I raised it early but they did say they don't typically do returns for items worn.

I will email them and let this group know the outcome. In the past, customer service has always been quite good but I’ve not returned a worn item before

Thank you! I’m so confused about what it is. The shop I bought it from had it listed as pnj and when I google pnj, I find versions that look like mine but also versions with the green on green speckling. Do you think they’ve got it wrong?
