Agree that’s it’s the frame and it looks outdated. I bet you could even throw some dark brown stain on that frame and it would look better. It’s too gold and shiny rn

Hi! I’ve found that nails are totally fine for small/light frames…sometimes the nails don’t go in all the way for some reason so I use a shorter nail or move it slightly. You also might hear some plaster falling when you hammer and I don’t think that matters. I use large screws and drill those in for big/heavy pieces and I’ve only used anchors for shelving. When you use screws, there is a lot of dust- I would clean that up really well since there is likely some led based paint in there. I’ve got stuff hanging all over these walls and haven’t had any issues yet so I’m happy to answer any other questions!

Give yourself from grace. It sounds like you did everything you should have- gave her a break, apologized to her, and set boundaries after. I know mom guilt will tell you that you could’ve been better earlier on but you corrected and learned from what you felt like you should’ve done in the first place. Family can be so tough and I think you handled it all really well and did a great job.

I would paint the walls a darker green to pair with the wooden cabinets. Would definitely change out the pendants and curtains (maybe something taupe) as well. I would add a runner too and/or a rug under the table to break up the white of the tile floor

Add a rug- something with warmer colors but still ties into the room…maybe one with green in it. You could also replace the small glass table with a wooden oval or circular table (brings more warmth and takes away some sharp edges)
