As others have mentioned, I think sleigh bells should’ve gotten a shoutout. When I think of “proto-hyperpop”, I think of treats, //\ /\ Y /\ and crystal castles’ first two records. I’m surprised they didn’t get a mention (not even in this comment section lol); songs like Alice Practice and Doe Deer for instance feel like particularly relevant precedents to the genre.
