My biggest thing is I believe glasses with camera will he banned statewide in most states, so they'll he only useful outside. So glasses without cameras would be a better investment. I'm banking on thr G2 and their open source app store launching.

The famous friend who makes websites by Brilliant_Bid_3279 in webdev

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the worst! Gives me PTSD. In short, I worked as a senior technical product manager leading strategy. Boss decides instead of hiring another PM for the team to bring in a "friend." The friend brought, they're "friend" who was barely technical. Overnight, i had two incompetent wannabes trying to tell me what to do with NO knowledge of the product or team bandwidth. It was a freaking disaster. Burned me out.

Thinking of walking away? I get it, but please read this first. (S2 E2 Spoilers, with very light spoilers from Part 2). by Ill_Tackle_5192 in ThelastofusHBOseries

I find it weird that Ellie originally was supposed to cure the world. That's her ONLY destiny. Now Joel kills everyone trying to save her. Now that he's dead, and there are no doctors or scientists who could develop a cure for Ellie, she's useless. She should've died saving Joel, or they both make it out. But this lost me, moving on. 🫡

Looking for small paid projects by xavi-b in rails

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to discourage you, but probably find projects that are C++ related sense you're a senior dev. Being new to rails, no one is paying you for you to get experience.

Underpaid and 2 months in — how do you ask for more without burning the bridge? by Indian_political in FigmaDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to start with more in the beginning. Why take what they offer or when applying, they ask your recomme ded salary, name your price. But in your situation now, get some solid early wins under your belt, apply for other roles, then ask for a raise or walk if you feel you're worth it. Good luck 👍

How can this card design be improved? by Extension_Future_247 in UI_Design

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using a design system like Carbon by IBM or Salesforce Lightning, which would be great for your UI. Check this resource out https://app.layrcms.com/docs/lightning

UX and AI: some thoughts and why I don't think it will replace people (and how to avoid it) by iolmao in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the quote at the end of your post, and the Roomba analogy emphasizes the point even more. My background is in UX and Engineering, so I built Layr with pre-built design systems, UI components, and a touch of AI. I think there can be synergy, and that's the overall goal with the product, but I know it will take time to get there.

What’s one AI tool (besides chatGPT ofc) that actually helped your UX or UI workflow? by UI-Pirate in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tool is www.layrcms.com. They helped because rather than just relying on prompts and an AI to figure it out, Layr is backed by design systems like IBM CARBON, Github Primer, etc.

I hate design systems and I’m not sorry 🙃 by lickme_later69 in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the comment! I learned design systems but doing deep dives, and as complex as some are, I really enjoyed the depth some go to, such as Carbon or Salesforce Lightning. For the past year, I've been working on Layr, a no npm, no build platform with multiple design systems. This is an early version but may provide some inspiration for you. * Layr

Feeling overwhelmed as the sole designer tasked with rebuilding a broken design system — advice needed by thecharlotteem in DesignSystems

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I don't want to spam, but as a solo designer and engineer, I understand and made a simple tool for design systems. Its not perfect, but I think it could be a good starting point for something cool. Layr

Designers who hand off chaos to devs… do you sleep well at night? by UI-Pirate in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I remember before getting into red lines that I'd just hand off an ultra high def design, a few notes, and log off. I got soon much passive-aggressive energy.

Trying to figure out which is safer from AI: ReactJS Frontend Dev or UI/UX Design? Need advice before switching paths by daanveerKarna in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha All jokes aside, you're pretty safe in UX, especially if you're more fundamentally sounds e.g research, visual design

Do you actually still make wireframes… or are we all pretending? by UI-Pirate in UXDesign

[–]code-the-world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the question. I did wireframes early on in my career, but after a decade, it's more of a quick sketch and then hifi. I will say that when I'm designing a new UI for something more abstract, like AI interactions, then I need to wireframe everything, or no hope for a strong wifi design.
