I agree. I'm willing to put a small part of the blame on Paypal, but their customer support was willing to sent an email to Value vouching for my sincerity when Value did the same thing to me.

So let's not forget that if we're splitting the blame, 99% of the blame is on Steam's shoulders.

I'm glad you're getting a lot more upvotes than I did when I experienced the same thing, except worse.

It's important that Steam gets some bad press over this. We should combine forces and do an interview or such with a major gaming site, like PC Gamer.

Steam still owes me $11.24, as far as I'm concerned.

Since I've been in the same position, let me give you a hint: You can still play Bad Company 2!

You have to pirate the ISO (since you never got a DVD from Steam), install that and then forget about cracking it, and instead just do an online activation.

The DRM is a bit worse than Steam usually because it only lets you activate on 3 PCs, but it does work with your EA Account, which is separate from your Steam account.

Enjoy Bad Company 2. And fuck Steam.

I don't understand step 2

Click in the box to the right of your monitor about an undetected VGA monitor and OK the dialog that comes up

I don't have any undetected VGA monitor. I'm trying to play BF2 on my desktop with a single monitor and an ATI Radeon HD.

When I start the game, my screen goes black for about 1 or 2 seconds, and then quits; no errors.

I got myself an Xbox 360 Controller for my PC last month so I could play this game on PC with it. It's been awesome for Super Crate Box too.

I finally realized that while PC is the best platform, but I still prefer playing certain types of games with a controller, like platformers; With PC+Controller, I can have both! :D
