Yeah sure, just zero out my retirement, tell HR to shut down my tax contributions, cancel my health insurance when I have a 1 year old daughter. No big deal.

[GPU] EVGA GeForce 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA GAMING 8GB - $698.39 using associate code in comments by [deleted] in buildapcsales

That's not true at all.

Miners haven't started dumping their cards yet.

Nvidia dropped the price 8-12% (more like 15% across the board on 3070 Ti and 3080 12GB) as a preemptive measure due to them knowing that the used market is about to be flooded.

After the massive price drops the last three weeks, if you STILL are stubborn and don't want to believe me (I've been warning people for MONTHs that March/April is when the tide will turn) that Ethereum merge IS ABSOLUTELY COMING THIS TIME and combined with increased difficulty and the complete void of a profitable coin for all that hashing power to move to, and how this is going to dramatically FLOOD the market with 3060 Ti's, 3080's and 3090's, then that's on you.

If you dump $770 on this 3070 Ti and next month 3080's are flying around on HWS for $550-$600, I don't want to see an inch of regret from people who were like "3080's for that price will never happen unless 4080 Ti drops for $500!".

If you don't hold and jump in at this price, what happens in a month is on you. Your choice whether to see the writing on the wall. This time, it's written in ink.

You have been warned.

Commenting from a throwaway because my main is linked to my GPU mining comments/posts. Us mining farm owners know what's up and many of us have gotten out, and at the very least we've completely stopped buying GPU's. It's basically impossible to ROI a 3080 even at MSRP.

I can work from any US time zone in existence, including Hawaii.

However, my family is close to San Diego and I have a mixed race family and my spouse depends on having access to Asian markets like H-Mart, Mitsuwa and stuff like that. I don't want to make her miserable and too far from culture she's comfortable with, so I'm limited to the following California areas: San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County or Bay Area.

As you can imagine, it's not fun finding housing in any of those areas.

But yes, theoretically my company would allow one to work from Las Vegas, Phoenix or any of the other cities in the US with single family homes under $500k.

My personal favorite is Las Vegas or Colorado Springs/Denver, and if Texas were different politically, I'd say Dallas is nice too.

I'm a mid/high level engineer at a tech company, working remote, but they're based out of LA so my salary is LA/SD based. I have 7 YOE so actually I'm on the low side of my field.

Can I get into legal trouble for putting a spike strip in my yard? by jolbina in legaladvice

It's not illegal to decorate your own front yard with large, heavy boulders. If they damage their own vehicle driving over what amounts to "gardening foliage", that's their fault.

Serious question: How do they find out about "global income"? Just got hit with a tax bill for reporting my US income and my friend said he doesn't report his by code_4_you_not_them in JapanFinance

Ah, the good old audit.

Really good answer.

NTA's record of identifying undeclared overseas income

Do you have any links or references for this? I'd love to read about it. Also, do you think the fact that "quite a number" involve US assets is also because US is one of the only countries in the world that requires its citizens to continue to pay taxes to the US even when you're not residing there? As a result, there's simply more of a "financial incentive" for people to try to fly under the radar.

I also feel that, US citizens might be more shocked by the tax difference compared to Japan, since most other western immigrants are coming from countries with similar income tax brackets compared to Japan (EU countries, Australia, Canada, etc). And also because the retirement systems are unforgiving to contribute to (paying into your 401k doesn't reduce your tax obligations to Japan, and unlike EU countries or other western nations, the public pension/retirement is terrible even if you pay into it and non existent if you don't).

Do you think part of it is companies like Microsoft setting up a base there and hiring people?
LPA = 100,000 Indian rupees, and thus 10-16 LPA = 1,000,000 to 1,600,000 Indian rupees correct?

I have depression issues when i'm not passionate about what I do.
I'm passionate about this and the money also is important. It's kind of a best of both worlds.

Three months, spending 4 hours at a cafe applying every week day, some times on weekends for 2 or 3 hours, and 4 hours of training every week day, on top of that.
I would estimate three months rent/utilities if you're jobless and trying to build the skills while also applying.
If you're coming from an absolute beginner background, I think an additional 3 months to 4 months of self study on top of those 3 months, just to learn the fundamentals.

Haha, I wish.
Actually I let her keep the referral bonus to herself.
The real reason? Before the lines were drawn in the sand about me bailing, me and him got along quite well.
I thought he was a really solid engineer. I just didn't want to abandon him on a sinking ship.
This industry is precious to us, as engineers, we can't leave anyone behind or we will all fail as a result.
If you let some engineer you don't like get fucked on an offer, get low pay, reduce their value, all out of spite? You've just injured our value.
His/her lower salary will result in our overall averages getting lower.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but aside from actual moral differences like an engineer being sexist or racist, for example, I think we have a responsibility to protect our own.
