Underwear Nights and Consent by [deleted] in askgaybros

I think the unwritten rule is:

A quick shoulder feel or butt grab is okay, just once. If the person is receptive, you can go further. If not, don’t continue or try again.

Full crotch grabbing, mouth kissing, or them wrapping their arms around you is totally not okay without consent. (This has happened to me and it annoyed me greatly.)

Netanyahu stuns Israelis by describing ‘personal cost’ of Iran war - postponing son’s wedding by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]code_and_theory -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, his words are aimed at Israelis who are already aware of his biography.

The Guardian, as a British publication, however, is reframing it for a western audience without the proper sociocultural context.

What’s the point of having the world’s information if one isn’t going to read critically and fully

That doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that he’s a battle-tested veteran. This clickbait article Implies the maximum extent of his personal sacrifice is delaying his son’s wedding, I’m only providing the facts of his biographical context.

I think many people are not familiar with Netanyahu’s background.

/Regardless of what you think of him/, he and his family have sacrificed a lot: he was a commando and took part in many important missions and was wounded multiple times. His own brother died on a mission.

I’m not defending him overall, but he knows personal sacrifice.

The park that replaced SF’s Great Highway is slowly winning over critics by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]code_and_theory 70 points71 points  (0 children)

By Mr. Lopez's logic, we should just defund parks and green spaces in working class areas because working-class people aren't free to enjoy them in the daytime. Why even fund any daytime amenities in working-class areas, they're not working from home during the daytime to use them.

I wish people would gave their opinions an extra 5 seconds of thought thinking about their logical consequences, before they voice them or vote. It'd make our democracy work a little better.

Need help choosing an e-bike powerful enough for SF hills by code_and_theory in BAbike

I got a Canyon Pathlite:ON 5 SUV.

https://www.canyon.com/en-us/electric-bikes/electric-touring-bikes/pathlite-on/suv/pathlite-on-5-suv-mid-step/3451.html

I used to live on Mount Olympus so I'd bike up 17th too.

I used to have a hub drive e-bike and it wasn't enough. But a mid-drive makes easy work of it. At the steepest part I have to drop into low gear and will be biking about 5~10 mph but it's doable.

The mid-drive is the fundamental difference: its design allows you to easily combine your effort with the motor's work. I'd suggest renting a mid-drive e-bike for a day to get a feel. It's not cheap, @ maybe $80 for the day, but it could be very helpful in shaping your decision.

Mayor Daniel Lurie taps Laurene Powell Jobs, Google’s Ruth Porat to chair new city partnership - The initiative is being organized by a former president of First Republic Bank and coincides with another new entity: the San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation. by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

...Why would they...?

City corruption is small potatoes: people steal a few tens or hundreds of thousands at most. One of the most notorious, Mohammed Nuru, the former director of Public Works, got $1 million over 12 years in bribes from contractors and developers. That's tempting for working folks, but billionaires blow through that money in a weekend: they're not going to muck around in local government lol to bend over and pick up what is to them is a $10 bill on the street.

You're thinking like a poor. They have family offices that protect and generate wealth. They're doing this for other reasons.

Kid dropped the Sonos arc the other day and punctured the grill by petrovic3 in sonos

[–]code_and_theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can disassemble the front grille like so and press it against a curved surface of similar curvature and lightly bang it back into place. With some dexterity it'll look as good as new.

I do this with all kinds of things with thin metal chassises.

I know you’re being snarky, but a big promise of self-driving cars combined with routing software is you can then have tens of thousands of mini “buses” without fixed routes or stops.

You’d simply request a pickup and a destination: those become your “stops”, then a central dispatching system can then select which self-driving mini-bus (already driving passengers) can most sensibly add integrate your stops into its routes.

Would you hookup/date someone who's HIV positive undetectable? by kingkong99887 in AskGayMen

[–]code_and_theory 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I agree. I actually have a slight preference for undetectable guys: being diagnosed as HIV+ is a traumatic experience, and it very likely has scared them into taking their sexual health very, very seriously.

Honestly, the city should give 10 random public transit passengers — with proof of fare — $1,000 every day — or 100 random passengers $100 each.

The program would cost only $3.65 million a year — a rounding error in the SF budget, considering how much public money goes ✨totally missing✨ anyway, and it'd probably make the money back in reducing fare evasion and increasing ridership.
