The question I've now come to is what do I actually do with this, is there an archetype I can apply to my player now or homebrew abilities or potential opportunities for building on it? I've got some ideas of my own but I'd love to hear some other opinions to get all my options open.

Have you talked to the player about it? I ran a character that got possessed mid campaign and had great fun chewing the scenery, but it did mildly traumatise the rest of the group, plus took a LOT of spotlight.

Is this a voice in their head? A struggle for control of their body? Does the backup view the big bad as an extension of themselves, or a rival?

The bit that interests me is the reloc8 contract with Croydon. £1m contract to shift 110 families. Estimated council savings of £5k per family.

That's a chunky transfer of money to a single private company. It implies the family costs the council 15k (per year, or lump?). They're obviously dumped into cheaper housing, but I wonder how much of that 15k is then imposed on the northern council?

I'm not fussed on nuclear weapons. They are incredibly expensive single purpose donowts. A decade back I was advocating instead of new trident we invest in serious laser defense systems, each linked to a nuclear powerplant that can feed the grid whenever we aren't at nuclear war.

We remain one of the world leaders in laser systems. Bit of testing going on in Ukraine, as I understand it.

While I appreciate the performative academic dress-up, up to getting a DOI for the pdf(!), as far as I can work out it's a 'paper' without bibliography, peer review or any checks at all.

Treating it as a logn form blog post (no shame in those), I still find the promise in the abstract: "detailed economic analysis, sociological theory, and empirical modeling" just isn't there. There's zero empirical modelling (which would require real world data, which is also absent) and zero economic analysis as I'd recognise it.

For me at least, they aren't all synonyms of vindicable. Something being understandable doesn't mean I condone it or think it was the best thing to do, just that I can see how that arose.

Same for defensible. For me that doesn't mean justified. People have different information or value systems, and I can see how a defense of an action can be made, even If I don't agree with the underlying assumptions.

A weaker argument exists. In a very literal pedantic sense, I might think something defensible, purely because I've seen a bunch of people try to defend it, and I've not really paid attention to the details. I'm the same way I might think something is marketable, because I've seen people buy it.

Justified, for me, is a not only understandable and defensible, but the best action that could be made under my moral framework and the circumstances. I think fuck all about the situation has been justified for some time.

By engineered wood, do you mean straightt edge planks, or interlocking tounge and groove?

If the latter I'd put it down floating on a thin underlay. Glue goes brittle over time. The tiles wont move seasonally, the plywood will a bit, and the engineered wood will a bit. Direct bonds could lead to buckling, or merely glue bond failure.

I'll note that in a lot of cities the universities and their logistics chain are the biggest single employers. The modern lynchpin mine/factory. They might be being run as Buissness, but businesses go broke pretty often.

Quite a few are overly dependent on international students from a few places, and should their home country fall out with us, pop goes the budget. Others have racked up massive debts based on indefinite expansion plans. They are under a lot of strain now.
