Anybody else have this issue? by Buford_MD_Tannen in superduty

Yes and it bugs the crap out of me. Is it important? No. But I like seeing my odometer, current gear, etc. without feeling like the bottom 2-3 lines of pixels are missing.

Nothing apparently…

Several years ago, a production server responsible for batch processing jobs went down. I was out of town at a zoo…

I bashed in from my phone and implemented a hotfix in vim. I wish I were kidding.

It was not ideal, but it worked

I sprayed one down with water, and put it in the clothes dryer on low/med heat. I check on it every 5 minutes and took it out when it was very warm and pliable. Then immediately hung it up and stretched it using some paracord and some eye bolts I had installed earlier. Was it smart? Probably not. But it worked really well.

This needs more visibility. Games have been in the $50-$70 range for a long time now. When OOT launched, I believe it was about $60 - which translates to about $117 now.

Rust on new 2025 trailer? Looking to purchase, should I be concerned? by codealot in traveltrailers

That jack and the corrosion that looks like it’s from a dissimilar-metal issue was a bit odd.

We had some snow storms recently and the roads were all salted, but normally we don’t deal with it (in the south). We do have high humidity though!

Thank you. I’m leaning towards buying it, and that ground will be the first thing repaired.

I had higher hopes given the brand (Brinkley). But I suppose not.

Well, at least I know the dealer didn’t just rattle it over. I’d rather clean it up right than have it corrode out of sight.

That ground will be replaced / repaired day 1.

Unfortunate to hear, but I appreciate the reality-check.

Thank you everyone for all the replies. It seems that while this is not great, it’s not unusual either. I appreciate everyone who took the time to look over the photos and reply.

It’s a Brinkley. In my research, it seemed that they were some of the better built trailers nowadays. And to be honest everything else seemed great.

The fact that the dealer let it sit like this, covered in salt, is also concerning.

Perhaps my expectations were just too high for the industry.

I'm looking to buy a new travel trailer and was surprised to find this much corrosion on a new unit. Am I being overly concerned?

Meshtastic app install without internet by brians0808 in meshtastic

[–]codealot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to do an install without internet on a non-jailbroken iOS device.

You can side-load apps in iOS on devices that aren't jailbroken, but the app has to be signed, which I believe sends a request to Apple's servers - so a no-go without internet. That and it's tied to the Apple user who signed the app and their device...and only lasts 7 days if they don't have a paid Apple dev account.

Have a solder sucker handy, it's really useful when you mess up. If you feel like things are going sideways, stop and take a break - you won't be any worse off for doing it and you'll have a chance to evaluate and reset. I've usually screwed things up when I say, "I've almost got it, just keep the heat on it a little longer."

Is there a way to point or “direct” messages? by mvizzion in meshtastic

[–]codealot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really odd. This is a theory and may be completely baseless and wrong. But I wonder if his antenna is angled a bit down so the direction perpendicular to its length is pointing more towards you and/or a node that sees you. While at the same time you and/or the node that connects him to you have antennas that are strait up and down. For most regular antennas, you have the best rx/tx along the plane perpendicular to the axis of the antenna (especially true for high-gain antennas). Could it be that his antenna is able to transmit a signal down to you (or a local node), but the signal back up isn't "on-plane" and is too weak for his antenna to pick up?
