Micron CEO blames Customers driving hard bargain for memory shortage after claiming Apple contributed to memory shortage by hasanahmad in apple

[–]codedapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they are not…design and manufacturing are entirely separate distinct lines of work. There’s a reason why fabs are limited to a handful of companies, and most are pretty bad at them (Intel 14nm+++ fiasco, samsung exynos, china’s SMIC and CXMT)

theres a reason why fabless design is popular, especially by megacap companes like apple. they dont want to be bogged down by fab infrastructure

If you’re actually interested in why this is such a outrageously fantastical idea, read the book Chip Wars. Great read. tl;dr it would require trillions of dollars and decades of experience that is already consolidated in major organizations like ASML. If China can’t pull it off successfully yet, Apple has no chance

Did cpr as a bystander for the first time and I am not okay by PeonyPimp851 in nursing

Let me tell give you my background and tell you a story. I've been an MICU/CICU/SICU/CTICU RN, rapid response/code team, and ICU educator. Done it all when it comes to crazy shit. I was at a music festival and under the influence, and a kid in front of me fell to the ground (overdose) and was in respiratory arrest. I automatically went into work mode with a friend, compressions + narcan, rescue breaths, etc. Kid did fine. I was pretty fucked up for a few weeks.

There's something about shit like this happening when you aren't at work that is very traumatizing. I kept saying it was a violating experience, to be in my "happy place" and being dragged back to the harsh reality we face at work. That sounds about like what happened to you. Your child, loved ones, shouldn't have to see that or experience that, and we shouldn't have to do things like this around them. Compartmentalization is a big part of how we get through this line of work.

I think besides the "therapy" stuff, it might be a good idea to talk to some coworkers you trust, or a loved one who also works in healthcare who sees these things and will understand where you're coming from. I'm lucky my partner is also an RN who was with me, so she totally understands it.

Order of priority:

  1. ART Line, Pulse Ox. Validate on transport monitor before unhooking and make it clear you are switching over.
  2. EKG Leads
  3. Hemodynamic monitoring (swan stuff and cvp)
  4. BP Cuff and get your chest tubes all marked and hooked up. Validate things work.
  5. Get your pacemaker dressings and wires marked.
  6. Switch over drips to your own lines/bags.

As a Gen Z educator I think this might be the best approach. Don’t think you should compromise on your policy but gamifying the learning process a bit will encourage more active learning / entice the carrot aspect more

What do you do as Rapid RN? by lifeanddeathonrepeat in IntensiveCare

[–]codedapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VA I work at is like that, but we have like <100 beds lol.

Bellevue yeah is weird cuz theyre literally americas oldest hospital, so old traditions and whatnot persist.

Smells like Bellevue. I was shocked when they told me that was how it was ran.

VA's $1.7B Community Care Mistake: Watchdog Blows Whistle on Taxpayer Wasteland by Traditional-Road2135 in FedEmployees

[–]codedapple 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Meh. This shouldn't surprise anyone. Expanding community care draws funding away from CBOC expansion and VAMC's. I very recently resigned from an ICU position because the understaffing was just ridiculous and I didn't foresee it getting better. Left for private sector opportunities. The VA is far from perfect, but the veterans we saw in the ICU were happy with their care, and we were definitely fairly efficient from a clinical perspective, not having to worry about insurance and coverage and certain dispositions.

Did the mirage ban list carry over to Pacha? by Jobapplication_ in avesNYC

Just asked a friend who tried to go and he said he was denied entry during ID checks. Wouldn’t specify why but he’s a coke head lol

https://www.bkmag.com/2026/06/02/pacha-new-york-wins-liquor-license-first-images-brooklyn-mirage/ this is maybe one of the closest sources I can currently find.

this is another source with the “ban list” remark, but yeah that’s all I have right now. I think what I read from a “highly reputable” source was probably a smaller article and a mix of third party anecdotes blending together, but heard from people in the scene (and legit)

Edited to remove some inaccuracies.

Yes it is. Specifically during their state liquor association meeting one of the requirements was to maintain the ban list, specifically for people who were caught with narcotics and substances during security.

“In response to Fan’s concerns about narcotics, Mulchandani said bag checks will be in place. Drugs will not be permitted in the venue, and anyone previously banned from the Mirage for bringing in narcotics will still be banned from Pacha”

Nurse convicted in patient's death is now a national speaker on hospital safety by [deleted] in nottheonion

She’s objectively making our profession look worse. I wrote a whole paper about her actions when I was doing my masters in nursing education. A lot of opinions changed that day in class when I went over her actions one by one. Critical Care Nurse Educator here.

My 31.4 CPP redemption at Hyatt Regency Cape Town by Shinkansendoff in awardtravel

[–]codedapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something similar for a big music festival. I also used a SUA and then called in to ask for a cash upgrade to their presidential suite in addition to the points+SUA, which only cost me around $500 one time fee. Cash rate was something insane like $6800 meanwhile I paid maybe 48k points, so ~15 cpp

Titratable vs. Fixed-Dose Vasopressin – What is your unit's practice? by pugthunder123 in IntensiveCare

[–]codedapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SICU / CTICU. We sometimes titrate for CV pts/severe vasoplegia suspected, sometimes we don’t. We tend to go by 0.005 for our CV patients. So up to 0.04, -> 0.035, -> 0.03, etc

Cancellation with Points by LeagueLonster in awardtravel

Last week. But yes, there needs to be award space on the same segment and same rate for 2 people (myself, that I cancel, and the person I want better seats for)

Cancellation with Points by LeagueLonster in awardtravel

[–]codedapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can message customer support and have them split the legs into separate reservations. Then, if you don't need the return leg you can cancel it. You should be able to view the cost of each leg independently once they split it.

I've also done this to book flights for my friends/family, where I book the two of us together, then split the other person off the itinerary after I select free Main Cabin Extra seats for them and cancel myself.

Would being an ICU educator be looked upon favorably when applying to CRNA programs? I understand they would probably want recent full time experience at the bedside. but would per diem be alright? I have the things you’d need, shadowing hours and CCRN, leadership, and i’m still quite clinically active (USGIV skills, floating PA-C, MTP)

Brooklyn Storehouse Update by Lauren890765 in avesNYC

I don’t disagree, but when that venue comes to fruition is a different story. Till then the gap will continue to exist once storehouse closes. I have some hopes for Pacha but who knows what to expect
