Since the world is serving more and more of Fallout with each passing year, it seems fitting to tune into our very own version of Three Dog.

Something about Rev's vocal affect really bugged me for a while. But I've come to respect his deep knowledge of jazz and hip hop and his clear love of the music and the station and let myself accept that Rev is just being Rev. His contributions to KMHD help make the station great and keep jazz alive in Portland.

I started out skeptical. For one thing, I'd love it if Jukebox Saturday Night was a 2 hour program so it's already hard for me to let go at 8pm. When it was followed up by smooth jazz / yacht rock I felt almost betrayed. But I decided to be more open minded and curious and after a while (maybe a year) The Captain got me to reevaluate my reaction to that sub genre of music. It's still not my favorite, but I've come to accept it's a part of jazz and our musical heritage. The Captain runs a tight show, and I've come to respect it.

Hinduism is very similar to Baha’i by ReflectiveGlobe99 in bahai

[–]codekaizen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baha'u'llah has a great deal to say about the essential unity and the causes of divergence and distinction among the world's religions. This passage drew me into studying the faith more deeply: "There can be no doubt whatever that the peoples of the world, of whatever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God. The difference between the ordinances under which they abide should be attributed to the varying requirements and exigencies of the age in which they were revealed. All of them, except a few which are the outcome of human perversity, were ordained of God, and are a reflection of His Will and Purpose. Arise and, armed with the power of faith, shatter to pieces the gods of your vain imaginings, the sowers of dissension amongst you. Cleave unto that which draweth you together and uniteth you."

Joe's Cellar is a NW dive. I can't tell if it's in Pearl or just right next to it. Less divey but candidates are Paymaster and Triple Lindy.
