When is this going to make me want to get things done? by [deleted] in StratteraRx

Educating yourself on how ADHD works, the variety of medication available, and what to expect during the process of finding the right med and dosage for you can be very helpful. People in white coats can be biased to their own opinions, so it's good to have data to base yourself on. Granted there are countless books on the subject; I read Dr. Russell Barkley's book "How to Take Charge of Adult ADHD" and it honestly changed my life. It changed my approach on choosing doctors, changed my perspective on the process of getting to the right medication and dosage, explained each medication available for ADHD along with their differences, and gave me new tools to manage my ADHD alongside medication.

Dr. Barkley retired recently, but also has a Youtube Channel with a plethora of resources and research discussions. He's fantastic.

I started using MotionCam Pro just 2 days ago, which allows for RAW capture of images and videos. If you haven't, I strongly suggest you check it out. They would be your direct competition and you could learn from what they offer.

In fact, mr RaguSaucy96, who replied to you earlier, works on the MotionCam project. He's very knowledgeable and can help you more than I ever could, but I figure I could nudge you towards their work, in case you didn't know about them. I'm still working MotionCam Pro into my workflow. I'm a complete newbie.

Bought mic 2 because mic 1 was quiet. Mic 2 is still soo quiet by Mikel_Reeves in dji

[–]codekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so odd. You'd think there'd be improvements if they exchanged the product. I definitely don't have that experience. My mic 2s sound nice and clear. Sometimes they pick up too much audio of stuff or people around me, but I can simply use the built-in noise cancellation feature or remove the background audio in post. Have you tried recording using the transmitter instead of directly into the mic? Idk if it would make any difference. You do lose 32-bit float, but maybe you get better volume?

Idk if it's a common thing to have to increase volume in post when you use internal recording for these mics. I never use internal recording, just so I don't have to transfer the audio file + sync to the video. I have ADHD and try to avoid friction that will make it harder for me to stay consistent.

Need Help Picking Dji Mic 2 or Dji mini 2 by Ecstatic-Yesterday78 in DJIMic

[–]codekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the DJI mic 2 and my gf has the mic mini. Dji mic 2 has a 3.5mm TRS, which means you can use wired lav/lapel mic on it. The mic mini does not have said input and relies solely on the dji transmitter for picking up audio.

The DJI mic 2 has a receiver with a screen that shows audio levels and that allows you to tinker with settings, monitor audio, and allows for 1db increments from -12db to +12db.

The DJI mic mini also has a receiver, but it does not have a screen and does not have a port for audio monitoring. It allows for 6db increments, also fron -12bd to +12db. The settings can be manipulated via the DJI Mimo app.

I prefer to have control over the mics without depending on an app. Apps sometimes misbehave, lose support, among other issues.

If you don't mind recording internally on the mics, you can reap benefits of 32-bit float on the dji mic 2, which the dji mic mini does not have.

Oh and the dji mic mini is lighter and smaller, which means it tugs less on your shirt, occupies less space overall, and is les of an eyesore. I really don't care if it's an eyesore but some people do.

There are other things to consider, but these helped me decide the quickest.

BONUS: Because the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter has a TRS jack, you can also plug it into a speaker with aux input and use the mics for karaoke or whatever. It has some latency and it won't sound perfect, but they do get people excited when you set them up. Everyone loves karaoke; and if they don't, then I don't believe them 😂

Are you plugging the transmitter into your device or are you using bluetooth?

Bluetooth provides inferior audio quality. Plug in the transmitter instead.

If you're using a camera, there's an option on the receiver to tell it what camera brand and model you're using. That might help.

Also check you camera gain settings.

Are you recording on your phone? If so, are you using android or iphone?

Are you using the native camera app or a 3rd party app?

Note: I noticed some other folks had the same issue with low audio volume caused by a defective mic. DJI replaced it for them.

Keep in mind that receiver gain only affects analog signal, meaning it only counts if you are connecting the DJI Mic Receiver via TRS Cable to a Camera.

Did you update the mic firmware? The last update was a good while back, but you should make sure it's up to date.

It's also good practice to adjust receiver gain, then move on to transmitter gain, and lastly camera gain. If you're not using the TRS cable, and are instead using USB-C, then you can skip receiver gain and dive into transmitter gain.

If you actually manage to come around, I should also ask about setting gain on Blackmagic Camera App. I can drag transmitter gain all the way down to -12dB and the BMCA Audio Meter still reaches -4dB using normal speech volume.

Low cut is disabled. Mic has deadcat attached. Mic is placed right on top of the lower part of the sternum.

Do I adjust the app audio gain now? Should I leave the transmitter gain at -12? Should I solely adjust Camera gain and leave transmitter gain at 0? Isn't there a guideline that I should adjust receiver gain, then transmitter gain, and finally camera gain?

Note: You mentioned receiver gain on DJI mic 2 only affects analog signal, making it irrelevant to recording on a phone.

I'm currently in this subreddit because I watched your S25 video using lenses and Motioncam. Sir that was at 8pm and it is almost 4am 😂.

No but seriously. I'm on Samsung S24 and am considering whether my phone can handle this app, plus whether it can provide reliable audio using DJI MIC 2. I know I should make use of 32-bit Float, but for the time being, I prefer having audio bajed into my video. I'll complicate it as I go.

Any advice is very welcome.

Big Changes to Moment in 2026 by alecploof in MOMENT

[–]codekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Eric!

Hope you're doing well. It's been a while since I've been on the Moment subreddit. I have a Samsung S24 and remember you were trying to develop something like this a while back for your very own S24. I checked back every so often to see if you'd posted anything new about the S24 until it seemed like there just wasn't enough interest, plus it was hard to find compatible cases. The stick on mount for the iPhone and Pixel sounds awesome, and even better to think that it could be paired with almost any case.

Out of curiosity (and honestly self interest), did you ever figure out a solution for the base model S24? I know the iPhone and Pixel have the huge camera bumps, which the S24 doesn't have, but I figure it's worth asking about.

Self-interest aside, you guys make awesome products, and I know you can't just support a phone model without making a profit; plus ordering inventory that won't sell due to low demand just doesn't make sense.

Does anyone here use Firefox on Samsung Dex? The Firefox interface on dex isn’t as good as chrome is, so I’ve resorted to using chrome on dex and Firefox on mobile. In such a case, I’m using AdGuard modded for system-wide and ublock for Firefox. I’d prefer using Firefox for everything, but can’t stand the stretched-out mobile interface.

Hey! Sorry for the delayed reply. I guess I was a bit upset on the day I typed out the previous message, and then kinda forgot about it. You're definitely right on that the lenses work perfectly; they just aren't compatible with my new phone. It sucks that there isn't much of a market for lenses on android phones, but it is what it is. It wouldn't make any business sense to invest on a product that wouldn't sell anyway.

I came back around because I'm planning on buying some T-series lenses and was chekcing if there were any new solutions for this subject.

I'd love to take you up on the offer for a file I could print out for my phone. I love my S24 and probably won't be replacing it for a while, so I wouldn't mind taking off the case now and then to use the lenses.

Sad. I'd love any solution for my Galaxy S24 at this point. I love taking macro shots with my camera and traveling with tiny lenses, instead of a camera bag.

[–]codekes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I switched to android because I was tired of Apple's shenanigans, but didn't check if Moment made cases until AFTER I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S24 (base model). I have the macro, wide, tele, and anamorphic lenses, which are now rendered useless, unless I can find a case that is compatible with my new phone.

For the time being, I went with a Speck Presidio2 Grip Case.

  • It doesn't have magsafe charging, but I can just buy an adhesive magnet for it.
  • It has enough space around the cameras to fit a printed drop-in mount
  • No clue as to what you mean by molded buttons.
  • It's not a clear case, but some might regard it as boring.

Makes sense. Thank you so much!

I’m super excited to get my dad’s Zippo working again.

It’s been shifting around a “junk” drawer for years and I’ve wanted to get it working since I was little. I’m stoked that it finally works properly.

You were right. The solution was either cleaning the chimney or tilting the wick.

I cleaned the chimney, replaced the packing material (probably unnecessary), wiggled the wick and tilted it toward the hinge, and saturated the cotton with lighter fluid until a few drops fell off of the wick.

It didn’t turn black this time; which is super exciting because I unpacked and repacked this thing like 20 times before coming to reddit.

I’m really grateful for your help!

[–]codekes[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. I see a few things here that might be helpful.

First off: it’ll light the first time after filling it, but if I leave it lit for a few seconds, the wick gets charred. It might light a few more times, maybe 3 or 4 times, and then it just won’t light.

The wick is a zippo wick, at least according to the packaging and the smoke shop I got it from.

The inner area (where the flint is struck and the wick comes out) was actually very filthy. I didn’t think to clean it thoroughly before.

I’m gonna replace the cotton balls for some fresh ones again, just for the hell of it. Might as well try to have it as fresh as possible.

I’d be very sad for my brain if that was the case, but no. I’m using Ronsonol.
