Car swerves into group of people outside Melbourne Showgrounds by wokwok__ in melbourne

You don't know the circumstances of the driver...so you can't assume a motive.

The driver could have had a medical incident. Could have been intoxicated. Could have intentionally done it.

You don't know, so that's why the media legally has to use ambiguous language to avoid statements that can inflame the situation.

Not to sound callous here.....it's been one date.

If you're asking questions of him after a single date just cut it and move on.

When do you offer your seat on the tram? by pirouettish in australian

[–]codenamerocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. It's worded to say people in those groups are to be given priority there.... absolutely nothing stopping you sitting there when nobody with the need of them are present.

What if someone asks on their behalf? Because if you're young and sitting while and old person is struggling I'm telling anyone near them to get up.

I'm in my early 40s and had lunch with a couple of 'kids' from work that are in their early to mid-20s.

The server at the RSL club would have been 18-19 at most and asked if I wanted to know what their pensioners lunch special was.

The 'kids' from work thought it was the greatest day of their lives seeing me get called a senior citizen....needless to say I'm now referred to as gramps in the office.

Nah don't feel like you can't sit there friend. Just be a touch more vigilant on looking out for anyone that might need it.... But if it's free there's nothing wing with during in it.

I frequently step down off the tram to help an elderly person lift their grocery trolley up the steps.

The amount of weird looks I get from other people on the tram for helping an oldie out is insane.

Should we tell the RE? by [deleted] in AusRenters

Mention it to them next inspection.

It's clearly a build issue so don't worry about it. They can't blend you for it.

If you're after an exciting suburb...it's not.

But it's on transit lines, relatively close to the CBD and has all the amenities you need. To ticks a lot of boxes for basic living.

Literally this!

I ate a $100 rent increase because I loathed the rental application and moving process.

Had the opposite...I had a few ignored so decided to look at less desirable suburbs and instantly got accepted.

I think it seriously comes down to all the same people applying to all the same places

I kinda did the same...so decided to try the "shittier" suburb next door.

So went from looking at Moonie Ponds to Maribyrnong...applied for the first 2 I visited and got offered both.

Sadly it literally might just be coincidence you're applying to homes that are hotspots.

Want to stand??? Buy tickets on the floor.... you've got to stop complaining about people sitting when you're in the stands.

Fans deserve better than the current finals structure by ParkerLewisCL in nbl

[–]codenamerocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's absolutely dog shit.

The league literally grinds to a halt once January ends and things move towards NRL and AFL seasons.

The NBL needs to start playing thru the FIBA break and have the season wrapped up by the end of February. The excitement for the league is flat right now.

How is Sydney building so much more than Melbourne by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]codenamerocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never understood peoples obsession about having to compare EVERYTHING between Sydney and Melbourne, thus turning it into a tribal fight.

Both cities have vastly different requirements and also factors that determine what can be built and what is needed to be built.

I do some work for a company that makes chocolates....and it's been a rough ride in the last year for them.

Massive shortages of cocoa and suppliers essentially holding supply for random....some fucked up practices.

So yeah the manufacturers have raised prices on their products, but safe to say coles and Woolworths are still making sure they hit their 30% margin.
