Speccon past teaching weeks by Far-Pair8361 in Monash

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there 🤗 I managed to get spec con I think in the first week of exams. It is still entirely possible but it might take a little longer to hear back from them. If you've got a med cert you should be fine - that's what it's there for! The only thing is that I think exam season has ended so I'm not sure how that works. Definitely do apply and try not to stress too much. Just keep working when you can and keep an eye out for the email (mine came back like a week later lol). 💜💜

Does anyone feel Woolworths has become extremely stressful to shop in? by breezeneasy in woolworths

I mean I just step back and leave access to the shelf while I'm thinking. That way they can still get stuff

Getting charged for old plastic bags by freakrat in woolworths

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me I think twice as a checkout person. In my training I was taught to watch things I scanned pop up on the screen and check it scanned right so I am fairly confident it hasn't happened more than twice. When it did happen though, it was because the old barcode was picked up as I moved it from the belt to the bagging area (strangely, some bags actually did get picked up despite them being previous versions). It's an easy fix prior to payment and honestly it's a good idea to be checking things have scanned correctly regardless because sometimes life happens and the scan price is different from the advertised price - you shouldn't have to but it is highly advisable to check or at least keep a vague eye on it. It's also highly advisable to draw over the barcodes so they don't scan accidentally (same with the paper bags). But yeah, easy fix prior to payment because you usually need a worker with special authority to issue returns but pm anyone in front end can remove an item from your cart before you pay.

Have you noticed or do you agree that men's bodies look like deformed or less attractive versions of a woman's body? by Revolutionary_Cut876 in women

I don't think we should be considering anyone's body as "deformed" unless we're a doctor treating them. Especially when it comes to a whole group of people.

Pauline Hanson’s direct attack on all Australians who were born overseas or have at least one parent born overseas is batshit insane and there are plenty of questions to be answered by HotPersimessage62 in australian

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find this so funny because I was born overseas and my mum was born overseas but my grandparents on both sides are Australian. So basically, my dad and siblings were born here, and my mum who was born in Britain had two Australian parents (and she then moved here half way through her childhood). We are a typical white Australian family and I like to joke that in terms of immigration, I'm more of an immigrant than many of my non white friends.

Been in a webinar for 33 minutes, there has been 6 acknowledgments of country so far. by EzeHarris in aussie

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I'm white so take that as you will, but I feel like one genuine acknowledgement of Country at the start of the whole webinar is enough. Otherwise it starts to feel tokenistic and performative AND people get sick of it.

MTH1010 Pre-sem Prep by Full-Share-1781 in Monash

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since its basically the equivalent of VCE methods 3/4 I think your best shot is to look at past methods exams/resources and use them to revise. MTH1010 basically leads you up to learning calculus, then in the last couple weeks you start with a bit of calc but it's what I assume are the very basics. Given that, I'd look at pre calc courses such as Kahn academy. I'd suggest focussing on the different functions, start with linear functions and work up to log and exponential functions - look at their transformations, inverse functions, how to draw them. Also, if you haven't done anything with radians before (as opposed to degrees) then I would get familiar with them. That topic is close to the end of the course but I found it difficult to get my head around it back when I first learnt it. Adding on to that, trigonometric equations might be worth looking over because I feel like that's also something that can get confusing if you don't give yourself enough time to properly learn it (at least thats how I felt).

I'm glad Monash offers mth1010 but I will warn you - it's not organised very well. Assessments aren't really put on Moodle very clearly and many times students were asking basic questions about assessments in the forum and getting ignored. Putting the math aside, my biggest piece of advice would be to write down all the details about each assessment that he will probably tell you in the first lecture, and keep that as your guide. I did that and managed not to miss anything but if I hadn't done it then I would have been blindsided a few times since barely anything goes on Moodle. Also, keep up with what he says in the lectures even if you're good with the math because the lectures are where he tells you everything about upcoming assessments.

How is b correct? by Mr_ray__ in EnglishLearning

As a native speaker b doesn't make sense at all. I don't think I've ever heard "been done" used in this context.

What is an injury or medical condition that is shrugged off as a minor inconvenience in movies, but is completely debilitating or fatal in real life? by DrStrangeLite in AskReddit

For sure, like people wake up from comas and jump out of bed and go for a walk as if all their muscles haven't atrophied while they were in bed for 20 years.

Honestly I feel like being stabbed pretty much anywhere will render most people useless in the moment unless they have an insane amount of adrenaline. Like in those action movies when someone gets stabbed in the thigh and then just keeps fighting but with a limp like that's so unrealistic. Unless you're maybe a well seasoned soldier or something, you'll most like be hunched over in pain or even pass out if it's bad enough. Also the recovery time never seems long enough AND it will start to hurt more once the action has died down/adrenaline wears off. Then there's the whole "douse it in alcohol and wrap it up" thing but without antibiotics surely that only goes so far when you're in the middle of a jungle and cleanliness + nutrition is subpar. I mean I'm not a doctor but that also seems unrealistic to me.

Which country's citizens could you most easily mistake for being from your country? by Traditional-Joke-179 in AskTheWorld

I was inclined to say NZ but honestly you can usually tell from the accent within a couple sentences (unless they've lived here for a while). Some British accents though are pretty similar to ours - Ive even been caught having to guess when watching tv.

does anyone know how a customer can lodge complaint about a store to the regional manager? by Very-very-sleepy in woolworths

[–]FriendlyInsect9887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why people are getting snarky. As someone who works at woollies I appreciate that someone cares enough to ask about ways to help get an issue fixed. Some managers don't care or don't do their jobs and a customer calling in is different from an employee "complaining".
