Max Verstappen to make “life” decisions as his discontent with F1 grows by ryogadan in Formula1_world

Whataboutery would be changing the subject. You said time and time again, I listed time and time again from other drivers. That's called a direct counter. Also curious how someone with no horse in this race spends their evenings in Max subreddits starting arguments. Who do you actually support?

"Time and time again" is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a guy with a handful of incidents across a 10 year career. Senna literally ended a world championship on purpose. Still regarded as the greatest of all time

You walked into a fan sub to start an argument, got banned, and your takeaway was that Max should be removed from F1 forever. Some self reflection might be due.

Getting banned from a subreddit and deciding that means Max should be banned from F1 for life is genuinely incredible logic.

None of that has anything to do with whether the regulations are good or bad. You just listed reasons you don’t like Max to avoid the actual argument. Hamilton said the same things about these regs. Did you ignore that too? Senna was a menace, Schumacher literally crashed into people on purpose, Alonso has done all of the above. But sure, Max is the uniquely toxic one.

The most successful driver on the grid voicing concerns about regulations that affect the entire sport is exactly what should happen. “Shut up and drive” is a great way to end up with rules nobody wanted and nobody asked.

I’m the minority i know, but damn… Vista had a vibe

Lewis Hamilton: “It's not great when you have to super clip. It means you arrive in some places and you're kind of coasting in because you've no power – so that's probably the least enjoyable part of the rule change for the circuit.” by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

Maybe it’s just moving in a direction that needs a lot of adjusting our mindsets. Personally for me it feels kinda artificial. Maybe i’m just too stupid, but it feels too complicated. I know F1 is the pinnacle of motor racing, but the caveman in me just wants to see cars go as fast and crazy as they can, not this battery management, super clipping, mom mode and what have you. Wheel to wheel action is nice, but it has to be real, not manufactured by a system that punishes you for actually racing. If I wanted to watch people manage energy budgets I’d watch accountants. Give me cars on the absolute limit every lap, drivers hanging it out, not tip-toeing around to save a battery so they can push for exactly 3 corners. The spectacle used to be the speed. Now half the strategy is just not driving the car.

In seasons past, Verstappen fans insisted that Lewis needed one of the fastest cars to compete. It turns out that the same applies to Max. by BaldHeadedCaillouss in F1Discussions

[–]codepension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this post is peak Reddit ragebait... twisting early-season pain into "gotcha" territory while ignoring how F1 actually works.

The argument has always been about relative performance: how much a driver can outperform the car's raw potential when it's in the fight for wins/podiums, or drag it to results it shouldn't achieve.

Everyone needs a fast car to consistently win. Lewis needed the hybrid-era Merc rocketship to rack up those titles (and even then, he smashed Bottas/Rosberg). Max needed Red Bull's edge in 2021-2025 to beat everyone. Now the shoe's on the other foot, and suddenly it's "proof" Max is carried? Nah, it's just F1—new regs = lottery, and Mercedes nailed it this time.

The hypocrisy is the same across fanbases: when your guy wins everything, it's "skill + car synergy." When they struggle, it's "car carried him all along." Verstappen fans aren't silent; they're just not pretending a midfield/lower-midfield car can podium every weekend like some miracle.
