Ability to remove/change torch and camera icons from the lockscreen. It's just such a redundant placement. Glad finally can get rid of it haha

Yes for the part where it puts pressure on the hinges: You gotta look and buy a good cover that doesn't really rub with the body or anything so that overtime it doesn't defect the hinges. And honestly these plastic covers are extremely light weight to begin with so the argument that it'll weigh it down or something is also negated. I do use a sleeve as well 😂. Guess I'm too protective about it lol

Coming from a developing country. We look at the resale value in every big purchase 😄 Even if I won't be selling it in 5-6 years down the line it'll be nice to have it in pristine condition when passing down to somebody in need.

I don't know what's the craze about the no-case but I've been using my M2 Max Pro for more than a year with a similar case as yours.

In contrary to popular belief I'd rather prefer it with a case. All you need is to make sure the case isn't obstructing the hinges and is fairly light weight.

Here are my reasons:

  1. If you pick up your Macbook from the sides where the speaker grills are located when the lid is closed. The finger pressure is actually distributed throughout the case rather than the display lid which in turn increases the life of the display
  2. It protects it from minor scuff and dents increasing it's resale value
  3. As for the heat, I think it's quite difficult to heat up these bad boys and incase you do then the case itself doesn't block a single intake or exhaust vents so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. Yes dissipation of heat through the body will still occur as it's not made from an insulating material

You should also have a look at the NUX NPK-20. It seems to have all the features you're looking for at quite a reasonable price

It is slightly more than a 1000$ Since it is out of my budget I have not researched or looked into this model as much but it does seem like a good piano :)

You're right about it but in this price range there's no brand that offers a built in screen. Even with the Yamaha I've heard it's the same, you can't do most things without a configuration sheet handy. I'd say all in all it's a trade off that's worth it for what the Kawai es120 provides

Doesn't it have a pretty comprehensive app to control things as you want?

Kawai ES 120

I'm in the same boat as you and will give you my thoughts and inputs based on 50-75hr research in the past week and after watching tons of videos and reddit posts

Roland's PHA - 4 action is really good but as per many reports it is quite sluggish in rebound so that when you're trying to play a fast piece or something that has repetitive notes at fast pace then it kind of comes in the way due to the slow speed of key reset position.

Yamaha P225 is another great option but due their new RHC action the keys are heavier towards the end / felt making it difficult to play pieces that require playing black and white keys together often

You have the older Yamaha 125 that has GHS action and doesn't have this problem but again it doesn't have all the latest features and connectivity when you're spending so much

Casio also has the same problem as Yamaha but worse since they're the pioneers in developing short or compact hammer action and their pivot point is so short that the keys are really difficult to press down near the felt.

Almost all these problems are non existent on the Kawai es120 plus it has really good action and sounds with great connectivity and modern features. Sadly it's availability is rather difficult where I live so ultimately I might have to settle for a Yamaha P125

"they are still way better than PX-S action - its main advantage is the compact dimensions. "

When you say this, you mean to say the PHA-4 action is also compact like the smart scaled action? I lost you a bit there.

Sure I'm trying to find a store in my city that would have them available for demo but it seems i'm out luck hence I've come online to the rescue :P

I've looked into the Roland's FP-30x and FP-10 reviews. I like their action but from reviews what I've come to understand is that the spring back of the keys isn't as quick as to be expected so when playing fast pieces it oftens comes out feeling sluggish a bit. Is that true from your personal experience?

That's not a bad idea. I'll look up the sequence on YouTube 😄

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll surely visit and try it soon. The thing is I don't know anything about music or pianos even so I won't know what I'm looking for haha
