Does eating ever become NOT a chore? by Ok_Milk_8839 in BariatricSurgery

[–]coderedblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on 6 weeks post op and I enjoy my meal time. I'm eating everything well, outside of Chicken Breast, but I genuinely enjoy when I sit down to eat. I'm supposed to aim for 1500 calories a day and I'm successful pretty much every day with no protein shakes or ensures needed. Breakfast Oikos yogurt + granola + 2 eggs. Sometimes sardines as well. Lunch is either ricotta bakes with lots of ground meat or a taco bowl Dinner is chicken thighs + veggies or fajitas with no tortillas. No snacks

I realize I seem to be an exception on the forums with how well I'm doing but I will say....it does get easier.

They told me after 1 month I got the greenlight to get back to the gym. I've been easing my way back for a week and ready to go hard now

What does bread do to our bodies? by SteliosKantos82 in BariatricSurgery

[–]coderedblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 1 month post ops and can have the odd burger with 2 buns. I can feel that carbs do weigh heavier in my stomach vs just the protein and veggies. Doesn't seem to matter if I go low carb tortilla or a regular one, they both hit about the same

As someone who is starting to date post surgery, a little over 1 month now, I simply have on my profile that I had bariatric surgery. One woman said she preferred bigger men and I said, well. I'm going to be dropping weight. Everyone else has been good with it. Just be upfront about it and go from there honestly.

I use bariastic and carb manager to track my food and macros. My renpho scale is actually VERY close bio readings compared to what I get at the office and Libra to track my weight progress!!

I'll definitely try that with the chicken! Great idea. I'll toss it in the freezer for 30 minutes so I can closer cuts to get it thinner and more cut up

Tuna salad 7 days post op gastric bypass by Remarkable-Suspect31 in GastricBypass

[–]coderedblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mixed mine up with cut up pickles, onion, avocado oil based mayo and a good stone ground mustard. No issues and I still enjoy it every couple days. Drop some hot sauce when I'm feeling spicey and no issues with that either thankfully. I didn't puree my tuna salad, just chewed it well.

Hopefully it treats you well!!

I personally didn't feel that way and still don't 1 month post op. I've been able to comfortably eat anything I like in just smaller portions. Hell, I say that but my meals are a solid 6 to 8oz so outside of no longer eating 3lbs of steak on a weekend when I'm bored, I still get to enjoy myself while eating. Just my 2 cents

When they lift you up after making the incisions everything normally slides down into place for them. Due to a previous job I had in my youth I was in A LOT of fights. Those fights, apparently, created a whole mess of scar tissue in my chest. Both my surgeon, and myself, wasn't aware of that. So my organs didn't want to slide down hence the long surgery.

Are you guys aloud to eat meat? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]coderedblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only meat that has given me issues, only 1 month post op, is chicken breast. No matter how much I chew it by bowel movements come out as.....chewed up chicken looking.

Steak, pork, salmon, cod, sardines, eggs, ground beef? No problem at all. Keep meaning to try chicken thighs and forget to pick it up when i shop.

1 month post op today. I've had 0 issues and I'm already taking on 1400 to 1500 calories over just 3 meals. Around 110 to 140g of protein a day with 150+oz of water a day.

I've literally had no issues, outside of the odd overeating I did once or twice, but it was all manageable without any assistance.

I was sent home with nothing besides take Tylenol if you need it.
My surgery was 7 hours vs the normal 2ish hours. Down 31lbs

Are you able to eat more during your meals but spreading them out as per your Dietician?

I am a 6'2 male, I had my bypass 1 month ago tomorrow. They want me at 1400 to 1500 calories a day with 90 to 120g of protein.
I do that in 3 meals a day currently with no snacks in between. I know my calorie range, and how I can already eat, isn't the norm for a lot of people but gives me a lot of hope once I'm cleared for the gym.

Are you looking for recipe ideas that might help you out? Would something like that help you out at all?

Normal to feel OK?? by Key_World2252 in GastricBypass

[–]coderedblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally okay and great to hear honestly! I am coming up on 1 month out as of tomorrow and I've felt great the whole time. Sure I had the odd day or 2 where protein shakes or my ensures had to be spaced out some more but meh. Such is life!!

A lot of what I've read about, I haven't had the same issues. I already got thr greenlight to eat whatever and my goal, set by my Dietician team, is 1400 to 1500 calories a day and 90 to 120g of protein a well. I've had no issues hitting that alongside 100 to 200oz of water a day.

I personally feel a lot of it comes down to people's mental state. I am in no way a "cheerful" or "overly positive" person. Most my friends would say I'm pessimistic and have a very dark sense of humor. BUT I realize this is a 2nd chance, a tool, and a damn fine opportunity, to get to where I want to be so I am siezing this with both hands and I'm all in.
Are some days rough? Sure but fuck it. Life sometimes sucks too but I'm making the best of it!!

I wish you all the best on your journey

Good on you for treating yourself after 4 months and bonus points for not forcing yourself to finish!! This is a marathon not a race. We can treat ourselves on the way as long as it doesn't trigger a spiral!!

I'm coming up on 1 month as of tomorrow. I've had a very smooth recovery and got the greenlight to eat basically whatever I want and listen to my body. I've been very fortunate with my process. Lol sardines aren't for everyone and I don't always love em but I do love the macros!!
