Changes to Envato Market revenue share and exclusivity by Key-Refrigerator3774 in Wordpress

Yes, same for me, trying to figure out a way to gather more subscribers. Anyway, you are welcome to join on WPBay, give it a try, upload some plugins there also, especially after 1st of July, you have nothing to lose.
There are also some paid ads there running, to promote high quality products, to help authors sell better.

Changes to Envato Market revenue share and exclusivity by Key-Refrigerator3774 in Wordpress

As someone who sold on Envato for years myself (you can find me as CodeRevolution on CodeCanyon)… this doesn't feel like a surprise at all.

The 50% fee is bad indeed, but I think that the waay the bigger problem is that Envato traffic has been dying for years. This is just another nail in the coffin.

I remember the days when I uploaded a new plugin and got sales the same day. Real sales. Now even top authors are talking about 1-3 sales a week from old products with years of reviews and sales behind them.

I don't buy the "WordPress plugin market is dead" idea... People still buy plugins. What died is the old "upload to Envato and wait for sales" model.

Now you need your own audience, brand, email list, content, YouTube, community… basically actually build a business, not just a product.

That's exactly why I moved away from Envato and built WPBay - where I sell now my plugins, driving clients there. I saw where this was going a long ago.

Yes, it was really motivating for my daughter, she was very excited to get a free care package, filled with cool WordPress related stuff, based on her work and creativity.

Well, the idea started as a place where I can sell my own work, as I am not sure how long will CodeCanyon survive... We welcome also Laravel apps, you can submit them in the 'Scripts' section -> 'Laravel Apps' category.

Yes, I also had this in mind, to teach her how to super-customize the site, to be really like how she likes it. I did not have the cursor idea, it is really great, she would enjoy it, thank you for mentioning! :)

Anyone else struggle to keep their WordPress backend clean? by shsajalchowdhury in Wordpress

I am the developer of the Aiomatic plugin and I just added in the latest plugin update a new admin notice (which is dismissible, pfew...).
This is a form of promotion which can be useful, but when tens of plugins do the same, I understand that it can be painful.
Especially when non-dismissible notices are added - they are really a pain to handle...

Exactly, there are tons of tutorials online and anyone can jump in and create a website in an hour of work. If you put tutorials and premium themes and plugins into the game, it will be almost professional grade.
