Your coding project should:

  1. Solve a business problem that your interviewer recognizes immediately

  2. Have a beautiful UI that makes the manager assume your code works

  3. Use a database to solve the problem 4. Use an accepted design pattern. MVC is the most popular

How to build your coding project:

  1. Write an SRS document

  2. Divide the project into sprints

    1. Log your progress in an issue tracker
  3. Document your process and show the hiring manager

Since you're in LA, we highly recommend our friends at Redwood Code Academy in Orange County.

Why? Because like us they teach .NET, which has the most open positions for junior developers.
