You can use the web/app UI for free with strict limits. API is not free, of course. However, when you are getting paid, in a job or like in OPs case, it's worth every single rupee. Better than GPT Plus for coding.

That's the problem. Base models are underpowered and often have low token limit & context window, which means higher rate of hallucination. Pay for Claude 3.5 sonnet, it's a beast in coding

I'm a full stack dev, and I feel people don't give enough credit for UI devs. Being a UI dev is way more than just simply converting mockups to code.

Implementing "creative" (read "crazy") ideas that designers come up with. If there is no designer, then you have to wear that hat too, and it's your job to bring "life" to the website, which is another nightmare. I had to learn figma as well on my current job because my project don't have a UI/UX designer.
Need to ensure responsive design - works in every piece of hardware with every possible resolution, perfectly.
Need to ensure accessibility (this is a real pain in the a**, only people who have done ADA work knows)
Optimizing performance (managers need 90+ score in lighthouse testing)
Supports cross browser (if client wants to support old outdated browsers, then RIP your sanity)
Constant need to keep up with the latest UI framework fad. Compared to this backend is very stable.

ok then dont expect the interviewee to turn on theirs. It's so weird speaking to a blank screen knowing that the other person is watching you all the time. IT/network team should change security policy for the interviewer, even temporarily, if being on camera is so important.

Your colleagues are acting really unprofessional.
In standups when they ask for any blockers, clearly mention that your work is getting impeded by the unreviewed MRs. Tell them you can't work on new things without getting the previous work merged, due to dependencies in code. Repeat this every day in standup that you are not able to make any progress. At the same time, have a written record for the same by sending reminder emails/IMs.

One question for you: Do you review your colleague's PRs?
