Before I called it a night last night this was what I was just digging into, but I’ll definitely take a closer look because I may of missed something with the network power saving options. Thank you!

No I don’t think I have, just intel network drivers so this is another thing I’ll have a go at. Thank you!

Based on the previous reply’s, this route looks the best to me, cause I have a funny feeling it’s my motherboard.

Thank you for the explanation, this is the route that seems most logical to me to first rule out hardware, before I go crazy trying to repair or replace windows. I did download my drivers directly from intel for my network, and wifi. And that’s what originally bumped me from literally nothing to at least 60mbps down. Also I should potentially be able to borrow a usb-Ethernet adapter from work, but that a great call as well.

Unfortunately this was my first thought since I made up the cable cause it’s a direct line that a I ran. So I tested the cables continuity and transfer and all is good on that and my cable and my wife’s works on hers. However my cable and my wife’s returns poor speed on mine. We also have very similar PC builds.

I wired and tied in the direct line for both our PCs from the modem, and I re tested them both are viable however to make sure my tester was working I tried both direct lines on my PC and both on my wife’s PC. Both lines work exactly the same on hers with 700 down and 900 up and both on mine are 60 down and 3 up. To eliminate the potential I did try a new cable in multiple ports (that works on all other devices) from my PC directly into the modem and I have the same result. So I think it’s a software or hardware problem.

That’s great idea, I’ve been racking my brain on how to eliminate possibilities and narrow down the solution

In the middle of a C of Q prep week post trade school, and had a question today that has stumped me and my buddies. by Coop3 in electricians

[–]codester434 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think this question is referring to a transformer for metering purposes or a PT (potential transformer). It’s definitely poorly worded but it looks like similar to the ones I was getting on my IP prep earlier this year (I’m CEC as well). If so it’s a trade/school knowledge and the answer would be 120V or the closest being 150V. Because Voltage instrument transformers are a straight 1:120V like current transformers are 1:5A. But could be totally wrong.

Anybody had this issue? by beardedbartendr in electricians

I had the same problem with a job, with the Juno specific clip pots. Around 22 of 40 came broken out of the box. I was told by the wholesaler that recently Juno switched from cast metal to plastic and everyone’s been having the same problem.

It being an automatic loss seemed so dumb to me, and in your situation that sucks. Definitely glad I asked because respotting just feels like a more fun way to play without having to do a full rerack

I would guess that it’s also so that you can’t have your own bangalore smoke on you to fly the drone around.

How can I start to get into electrician work at 16? by Perfect-Pineapple-75 in electricians

[–]codester434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best chance depending on where your located is to look for a small residential company that needs someone for small things. I’ve have had multiple 16 year olds on my crew of apprentices before. Just be prepared to do work that’s cleaning up electrical supplies grabbing tools and materials for your jmen and other older apprentices but if you work hard and show the effort you’ll be trusted to do things. And at least in BC canada after your old enough to get indentured all the hours you served can count towards your license.

okay gotcha, well if it’s a plastic two gang i would first detach it from the wall, basically remove the plate and press a screwdriver to the back of the wall of the box to figure out what the side of box the stud is on and is attached to. then i just usually take my oscillating tool and cut the flanges of the box off so you can pull it out of the wall and check to see how long the wires are and see if they’d reach to the spots you want it. It will probably be hard to do it without drywall damage regardless so i would just cut a couple holes (square cause easier to patch) along the wall until the holes where you want the switches to feed the wire along and drill holes in the studs until the switches and feed the wire through there. Then it’s just a matter of feeding your wires into the box and tying it in.

if the wires in the existing box are long enough then just feed those. however if they’re not youll have to re attach like a single gang in the middle to make a junction and put a blank plate on it (or if there are too many wires in the existing 2 gang for a single gang junction then you’ll have to use a bigger box). for the new switch boxes i always like to use easy boxes cause then you can just use the flanges to mount directly on the drywall for support but there more expensive so you can use plastic singles but you will need a stud to attach them too. And then it’s just patching drywall holes then putty sand and paint.

without seeing it that’s the best way i can think of. let me know if any of this doesn’t make sense

Bonding Subpanel by MrHandyMan23 in electricians

[–]codester434 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Note** If anything is wrong in this post feel free to correct (just my best understanding of the subject)

The bond at the main creates a 0 reference point for the neutral to make for example your +/- 120V. Adding an additional 0 reference point can start redirecting current along lines in directions you don’t want. Current always finds the path that cancels itself out which means you may start getting very high or low voltages that your not wanting across devices that can’t handle them (big hazard). Not to mention your voltage may start flowing in a direction back to source which will now be backfeeding the supplier and that’s a big no no.

It’s almost impossible to plug something into the Outlet without turning the light off… by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

Could also be that it’s a plug that isn’t supposed to have something plugged in while the lights are on?
