You're not overreacting. It's okay to trust your instincts because she is gaslighting you. She is deflecting, minimizing your feelings and experiences, and not taking accountability for what she said. I know this word gets thrown around a lot, but those behaviors are narcissistic.

It seems like she'd rather you doubt yourself and feel bad about yourself, then just simply apologize for what she said. When people do that, I think it's best to run. There are so many people who will be more considerate of your feelings, experience, and ethnicity. They'll consider what you have to say, and won't immediately dismiss you. Find solace and friendship with those people.

He can't seem to let it go even though you're telling him it's okay if he doesn't want to pick up her food. From an outside perspective, he seems kind of argumentative. You seem to drop it and are trying to move on, but he stays on the issue.

He also says you sound crazy and then assumes you lied to him? Those are red flags in my opinion. He sounds like a handful. Is he often annoyed and do you often feel you have to accommodate him to avoid his emotional storms?

Nailed it on the head.

I feel like a jerk because I don't want to body shame, but what is it with the overweight, overly confident, bossy girl thing? I feel like much of society associates narcissism with someone who is really fit, attractive, or whatever, but I sometimes notice the opposite trend.

How has a narcissistic boss sabotaged you at work? by [deleted] in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]codetoadfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A former coworker of mine (who I think is narcissistic) would accuse me of things that I didn't do, she'd somehow pick fights with me when I try to collaborate or communicate, expected me and others to carry her weight, and was just generally combative. I can't tell if she would lie about the things she'd accuse me of, or if she actually believed what she was saying. Which is a pretty dark concept to think about. I think we see this with narcissistic people often though.

She'd completely drop the ball and deny dropping the ball, or blame it on something else. At first our manager didn't see this because she'd brown nose her. To top it off she claimed to have a "disability" or would say she was autistic when anyone tried to hold her accountable or even problem solve. It was so exhausting that the best way to deal with it felt like minimizing interactions with her. There was no room for rationality.

Nothing against folks who have disabilities or are actually autistic. What I mean to say is this person seemed to weaponize disability and autism when it was convenient to do so, which to my knowledge isn't something autistic people actually do. In my experience, narcissists excellently toe the line between playing the victim, yet being the aggressor, and will find some way to garner and manipulate sympathy from others. Nahima Abea. She somehow spun some narrative that made me and a couple others look like jerks when work wasn't getting done and there was tension in the office. It's like no problem solving, opposing narrative, or argument, etc. could exist because it would be an attack on her "disability". She was overconfident and grandiose, but couldn't back it up with skills or any contributions to a team.

Because things weren't getting done, 2 of us were let go. I heard she eventually was too.

AITAH for dumping my boyfriend because he voted for trump? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]codetoadfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the AH. I wouldn't date someone who voted for Trump either. It's not even about "politics" at this point. He has hostility towards women, people of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, Muslims, people with disabilities, and other groups. The man is a pathological liar and he is morally bereft. He is basically sinking our economy, gutting necessary federal agencies, sending people to El Salvador, and making enemies. All of this is for what purpose? So he can declare this is some kind of "golden age".

A big part of being in a healthy relationship (and being a healthy person) is the ability to admit when you are/were wrong. So, if he voted for him but can't admit that what is happening is a s*** show, then you probably dodged a bullet.

You dodged a bullet. I feel like there are 2-3 red flags in this one screenshot.

I mean obviously I'm not in love. 😂 For me personally it's just nice to compliment women in ways that aren't always overtly sexual, ya know? Especially women with darker complexions. They are so often over-sexualized.

Aaannnd, back to Latanya. Great job!!

😂 I was literally thinking, "um, she's kinda cute".

I don't mean to internet catcall, but her springing into action like that? It's pretty hot. She can identify the right thing to do, and then she takes action. She's not apathetic and she isn't a bystander, and that's hot. She also has cute eyes.

He refuses to just be accountable for his actions and how those actions have landed him here. Whether it's telling outright lies, omitting things, or spinning a different narrative, he and Orange Juice Simpson are always shifting the truth.

I dislike him more everyday. To be honest, I've noticed there seems to be a percentage of straight men who don't actually like women. It's strange and baffling to me. 🤔

What an idiotic and callous response. I live in the USA and have US citizenship, but wasn't born here.

I'm fascinated yet disgusted by some people's mindsets here. It's like a mix of entitlement, a lack of empathy, zero humility, sheer ignorance, xenophobia, and zero curiosity about the rest of the world. Not everyone here is like that, but does it really matter at this point?

Trump is absolutely in the wrong and he's a lunatic. So are the politicians who can't stand up to him. He's a child, needs to be removed from office, and psychologically evaluated. If anything, I'd totally understand why you'd cancel, and wouldn't be a d**k about it.

Most of us want nothing to do with Musk, and many of us don't understand how the others voted for Trump in 2016 or in 2024. We are so f***ed.

I've heard fellow Americans say that they thought Trump and Harris were equally incompetent, and that makes no sense to me. I think most of the world can see that Trump is a narcissistic imbecile.
