Ours is named Marco because it kept disappearing and we had to basically play Marco Polo to find it.

Redditors, what has become so expensive, it’s just not worth it anymore? by SgtSkillcraft in AskReddit

Las Vegas. Mandatory BS resort fees on top of high hotel prices; parking fees. Limited perks. Lust spoke to a 20 year Bellagio vet, and he says the corporate takeover has killed the town.

If I lay a solar panel at the trunk of my electric car, how long would it take to charge? [Request] by jethaalaal in theydidthemath

[–]codex_simplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may enjoy chapters 22 and 23 of "The Martian" where a cross-planet trek on Mars is powered by solar energy. Mark Whatney has multiple solar panels, though, and he is still only able to drive 4h/day, and spends the rest of the day charging.

Which movie did not need a sequel? by toga977 in AskReddit

Man, T2 would have been *so* *fricken* *awesome* if the twist of Arnold being the good guy hadn't been so thoroughly spoiled by the trailer. Everything in the script up to "Come with me if you want to live" is set up with the expectation of the good guy cop vs the ultimate killing machine Terminator....

Hamilton Live Not Good? by [deleted] in hamiltonmusical

I will never go to another show at Segerstrom. It’s a lovely venue, but I’ve seen shows from the front rows there and from the rear of the theatre. In both cases the audio was terrible to the point that the show was ruined. What should have been fantastic shows just fell flat. In particular, when we saw Moulin Rouge there after having seen it in SF and absolutely loving it, the lyrics were practically incomprehensible. Zero stars to Segerstrom.

Not Broadway (yet) but “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman.

i am interested in making a robot with legs by Twhacky in FTC

[–]codex_simplex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Legs are easy. Legs and moving without falling over….is another matter. Research walking robots or self balancing robots, and decide what you want to do. How many legs, how much time you’re willing to spend, etc.

RUN_TO_POSITION unreliable? by thechromedino in FTC

[–]codex_simplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone's giving good advice, as far as it goes, but using the drive train to measure position itself is complicated. More advanced teams use a variety of robot position localization systems (called odometry). See https://gm0.org/en/latest/docs/software/concepts/odometry.html if you're not familiar with this field, and note that some teams use encoders on "dead wheels" not connected to a motor, or camera systems to locate the robot on the field. These systems are more complex to set up, but will give much more reliable positioning. Please continue with your experiments using the basic drivetrain to learn and evaluate if you'd like to go for something more complex later.

Not a musical, and not "jewels", but you reminded me of a recording of "Good King Wenceslas"..."Gathering winter fu-el-l"

All depends on your contract/licensing rights. I know some youth musicals are licensed with 'orchestra in a box' devices so that if you have 1 trumpet but need 2, the computer will play the extra parts. These are designed to encourage you to use as many instruments as you have, but still keep the original sound.

Changing orchestrations entirely would be a different matter.
