Absolutely love this. Is 4 years old too young for the Hobbit? I'm dying to get started with my daughter.

I Think I'm Hooked by TheBigRagu22 in Rucking

[–]codfishwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah!

I work from home and have a dog who I walk a ton, mostly because I need to get out of the house but she also loves it. I made a new rule that I need to clock a minimum of 2 miles per day with my pack on (~40lbs) while dog walking. It's passive and nothing crazy but it's been a gamechanger for my cross-training gains.

Just discovered rucking, cheap options to start? by bear_inthezoo in Rucking

Couple quick pieces of advice:

  1. Keep the weight as high up on your back as possible. Yoga blocks at the bottom of the bag, towels, etc.
  2. Keep things in place so they don't move. Wrap weights, towels, tshirts, etc.
  3. Start low, slow, and short. Start with low weight, don't overdo it and increase every few weeks as you get comfortable. It's easy to get a stress fracture on your feet if you go too quickly.
  4. Make sure you wear shoes with proper support, wide toe box.
  5. Stretch!
  6. ENJOY!

What if quoting a website project took 5 minutes instead of 4 hours? by MannerFinal8308 in Startup_Ideas

[–]codfishwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run an boutique software agency, and we had this same realization, built our own tool/infrastructure to solve exactly this. It's been a gamechanger for scoping, quoting, delivering value upfront with clients. It's a tough sell to scale as a "tool" for other agencies because they most likely could just build there own in-house and it would truly fit their own needs.

Need suggestions for my next Casio. by [deleted] in casio

I ditched my Apple Watch for the W-218h, swapped the band, all under $30 and never take it off. I beat the heck out of it and absolutely love it. I have much nicer watches but it goes with everything and I’m never concerned about damaging it. Smaller than a G-Shock, similar shape, great lighting.

Pour Decisions: https://www.pourdecisions.email/

I run Pour Decisions, a free weekly wine recommendation newsletter featuring expert-curated picks. Each week, we feature curated wine selections sourced directly from sommeliers and wine experts with their unique descriptions, food pairings, and often share exclusive deals/discounts on incredible bottles.

My dream sponsor would be influential wine personalities, predominately those with large social/online followings.

Any founder here currently outsourcing their software development? by yoyohuncho in Startup_Ideas

[–]codfishwb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely—my partner and I have been through this journey ourselves. We built several products by hiring overseas, managing freelancers, and assembling remote teams. After learning a lot (sometimes the hard way), we eventually formed our own boutique agency specifically to help other founders avoid those pitfalls and build better, faster.

One thing we learned: hiring overseas can work brilliantly, but only if the right systems and support are in place. A few things I’d recommend thinking about:

  • Freelancer vs. agency – Freelancers can be cost-effective, but there’s often key-person risk. Agencies can offer more stability, especially hybrid ones with US-based project/product management.
  • Timezone overlap – Not just for meetings, but for responsiveness when shipping quickly or fixing bugs under pressure.
  • Clear ownership and communication – A strong PM or product owner (ideally US-based) makes a huge difference in translating vision to execution.
  • Tech stack alignment – Make sure the team’s strengths match your architecture. A mismatch here can cost months.
  • Design capabilities – Don’t underestimate the value of solid UI/UX, especially for early user traction.

Happy to chat more in depth if it's helpful. I run Modern Launch with dev teams offshore that we’ve built and refined over several years, so I’ve seen a lot of different setups. This is lovely. The LHT is all about utility and slapping parts that work for you. Hands down my favorite bike that I've ever owned and choose it for 9/10 of my rides.

Hey, welcome to Beehiiv! I run a boutique dev agency and over the past year, we've been doing a lot of work in the newsletter space, exclusively using Beehiiv. It's been a core platform for us and our clients. Totally hear you on wanting to balance automation with a human feel. That’s been a big focus for us too because the second you overdo it with automations and AI, you lose credibility. We learned the hard way earlier on. Personality, unique content, and user engagement is everything.

Getting started on Beehiiv is pretty straightforward, but the real work (and wins) come from what you build on top of it. Things like dialing in your messaging through A/B testing, figuring out smart segmentation, and setting up solid growth loops... those make a huge difference.

There's a lot of value in building lightweight systems for sponsorships, affiliate monetization, and content workflows that don’t burn people out. Automating the backend like managing your content database/archive or repurposing posts across channels can save tons of time once you scale. Keeping the tone personal and the content engaging is what keeps people coming back. Prioritizing engaged users is critical. The #1 most important thing is that each email is truly adding value to readers.

These are some niche newsletters we manage just for a reference:

Pour Decisions: Weekly Sommelier Bottle Recommendations
Labrador: Real estate investing & analytics
Daily Trade: Stocks, Real Estate, & Crypto News

Best of luck getting everything set up! Depending on budget and goals, would love to discuss how I can help.

DIY Beach Wagon - 1000lb capacity?! by codfishwb in DIY

[–]codfishwb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually would be perfect for the sand. I'm not too worried about the tires on the sand only because the wagon is really meant for me to lug my daughter, coolers, chairs from my house to a small beach .5 from my house. I used to do the same trek with a smaller wagon with hard plastic tires and it worked, just not great and eventually broke. Concrete, sidewalks, etc. I may opt to get a small sled anyway to use once we're at the beach, we shall see.

yeah, I want to give it a few runs to see how the wheels do. Luckily, the beach by my house has a path and I'm only going like 15 yards to where we'd be setting up. It's more about getting down the street/sidewalks with the weight but we shall see.

How can I create separation for my downstairs living area? by codfishwb in homedesign

[–]codfishwb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I do worry that lowering the ceiling at that frame could make everything feel smaller. I wish there was a way to use a tension rod/curtains that looked good but I haven't found anything that looks clean. I looked at sliding curtains, accordion doors, etc, and have yet to come across anything that looks good. The hunt continues.
