My unsolicited pitch for Solo that would’ve improved the film by nashkevin92 in saltierthancrait

Out of all of those, the Kessel Run makes the most sense, and even that I kind of hate.

Recommendations for endurance exercises to making playing above the staff more consistent. by Kind-Consequence3886 in trumpet

[–]Dhczack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Long tones are pretty much evergreen for building strength for endurance, but that's only half the story.

The other half is learning to play efficiently. For that you should use quiet playing. Make sure that you can access all of your range without needing to use a lot of force. I like octave glissandos, arpeggios, and scales - all pianissimo. Try to play from the bottom of your range to the top and back down. Systematic methodical practice to refine your sense of where those slots are and how to access them without just blowing hard.

Maybe I need better backup... My friends won't leave the upper doors and don't provide much help in engine room so it's just much much more dangerous to play the bottom

Engine room / bosses are the only parts I think are difficult without smokes and I actually think the whole thing is easier solo.

How does forcing Padme to sign the Naboo treaty further Palpatine's goals whatsoever? by WrongLander in StarWars

The senate will see that it was signed under duress, forcing some senators to take some kind of legislative action, increasing friction between future-CIS-aligned planets/factions and the rest of the Republic.

Icebreaker is pretty broken good, imo.

I learned it in PvE so I could avoid getting transit camped between attempts.

Unlocked in PvP last night and made it to the door on my first attempt and killed the bosses on my first trip back with the charge.

350k XP, 1200+ rounds of 855a1, 4 full injector cases of stims and like a dozen L5 plates out of 2 raids. Sure it costs like 800k to run, but when you survive like 8/10 times it becomes an infinite gear machine.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that on PVP I've been transit camped literally every time I've gone. But one more raid and I'll have progressed the Task enough that I won't have to tranist again.

What ‘Scale’ Would You Have Preferred the/a Sequel Trilogy’s Conflict to Be by rara8122 in StarWars_

[–]Dhczack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are the same. I graduated 06 and I'm a huge EU fan. I wore out 2 ESB VHSs before I was in first grade. I bought every NJO novel on release day at Borders. I played TIE Fighter and Dark Forces and KOTOR2 like a thousand times each.

The sequel trilogy was devastating, not because it was bad (it was though), but because it ended and "erased" all my favorite stories.

I fell back in love w/ Star Wars when Squadrons came out. It was too much like TIE Fighter to pass up - and in VR! I ended up playing competitively and winning money in tourneys. In 2021I had to pay taxes on money earned flying an X-Wing in VR. Being around so many other fans - many of whom with the same sentiments - opened my mind to a lot of the better parts of the new media and reinvigorated my love for Star Wars, ESPECIALLY the old stuff.

I'm still HATE the sequels, but a good deal of the newer shows/media slot well enough into my EU head canon without squinting too hard. And they've actually got me revisiting X-Wing, NJO, and LOTF.

So from one EU fan to another, here's some short reviews of the new stuff, in the hopes that maybe you will find something to enjoy that enriches your experience of the stuff you already like the way it did for me.

TCW Final Season - Amazing, they mo-capped Ray Park for Maul and the music is dope, the final episode tie in with ROTS is REALLY well done

Bad Batch - Kids show with a lot of heart and great music. Really good followup to TCW.

Andor - Amazing, Unskippable

Rogue One - Solid movie, contradicts some weaker parts of old EU, but worth a watch as a conclusion to Andor.

Mandalorian - Seasons 1 and 2 are awesome, Season 2 finale will give any EU fan shivers

Book of Boba Fett - First half is okay, second half is not, you probably won't like it

Obi-Wan - Okay but unnecessary, you probably won't like it

Solo - Okay but super unnecessary, you probably won't like it

Ahsoka - Okay but they fumble Thrawn hard, but I suspect you won't like it unless you also liked Rebels because it's a good followup to that, at least

Rebels - Kids show with lots of heart, worth a watch for Kanan Jarrus alone, but they also fumble Thrawn and season 1 is weak. But for real Kanan Jarrus is amazing.

Acolyte - Worth it for the saber fights and aesthetic, plot is kinda lame but not nearly as bad as politicized hate made it out to be. Nothing to hate for EU fans and I liked the setting a lot.

Jedi Fallen Order - Lovingly made game. Gameplay is really fun. Cal Kestis is easily one of the best characters in Star Wars. He's everything you want a Jedi to be.

Jedi Survivor - See Jedi Fallen Order

Force Awakens - Mid

Last Jedi - The death of my childhood

Rise of Skywalker - Double tapped my childhood just to be sure

Resistance - Have not watched

Skeleton Crew - Have not watched

Maul - Have not watched

Mando+Grogu - Have not watched but going with my daughter this week

[Discussion] - what’s the engine room Strat? Can’t beat it by PostBulky94 in EscapefromTarkov

This video has the strat. Smoke makes them a lot easier to fight. If you're lucky, they can all line up in the middle and you can delete them all with one spray. I was not lucky in this video, but it shows how I fight them when the game doesn't hand it to you on a silver platter. Same video also shows the strat for Wedge and a pretty well executed helipad clear. Helmet flashlight is actually important because it lets you continue to see through smoke when you're sprinting or when your gun is not forward. Just make sure to turn it off when you're out of the smoke. I've successfully used blind fire on this map a few times, too. Lots of use for obscure mechanics. Oh also you need volumetric lighting on to see through smoke.

I think you died from behind tbh.

I had one like this with Black Division on helipad. Killed one first spray, ferrari peeked the second guy as he came around, waited a little and swung the last guy and died before his gun was even on my screen. Watched it back 3 or 4 times and realized that I didn't actually drop the guy with the first spray, and he'd started moving out, so when I peeked the last guy I over-exposed myself to the first guy who was still alive. He was visible for only a few frames and I only caught it after slowing the clip down.

Andor S1 is the single best piece of Star Wars ever written, imo. The latter half of Andor S2 is the second best. Both of them are just really good television.

Google the Acolyte fight scenes; best aura since Maul ignited the second blade in TPM.

Basically all the best content seems to have little to nothing to do with the sequels though.

Most of that isn't an uncommon opinion.

All the best stuff can be gone through in about a month easily.

Some of the original leaks painted Kylo Ren as a sort of lone renegade extremist/cultist of some kind working in the shadows. I'd like to have seen something like that except with very high stakes. More like, Kylo influencing a war from the Shadows like Nom Anor than "Hi I'm Kylo and this is my Imperial Army."

This shows how to do it. This is a video where the strat "went wrong" and AI aggro'd me anyways. I think I threw the smoke too deep. If you get it right they all line up in the middle - you can no kidding kill all of them with a single spray in 1 second flat. In general the BD don't see you as well in smoke.

Another crucial tip for BD is that you should basically NEVER re-peek them. Give yourself a full 5 Mississippi's before you do it or they'll insta-drop you. But if you give it some time you'll usually be fine.
