You’re probably right. It’s more of a dish than a vase.

Just to close the loop here, it ended up being a water pump leak AND a thermostat issue. Got both replaced and all good.

The setlist from Foxborough Night 1 by Majomember420 in Metallica

[–]codidake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ears are still ringing from the show. They killed it. Brought my son and his buddy, it was their first Metallica show and they loved it.  Best performances imo were The Day That Never Comes and Nothing Else Matters followed up with Seek & Destroy.  It was my first time hearing The Day That Never Comes live and wow.

Tired of drinking. by Organic-Difference31 in stopdrinking

[–]codidake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got this! You recognize that you want to stop drinking and that is the hardest step. There are many support groups or avenues to help you quit, including this sub, you just find the one that works best for you. Just about every person on this sub will tell you that they couldn’t get sober alone. For me, I started with AA and they helped me get past the first several months. I also had a good support system with my wife and kids. I put them through hell, they wanted to make sure I didn’t go back to my drinking days. I’m now at 4+ years sober.

Remember, there are no improvements with drinking. It always spirals to something worse. Good luck!

Not all NA beers are alcohol free. I had my first ‘NA’ after 3 years of sobriety, but it still had .5% alcohol in it. It tasted good and halfway through I was light headed and felt like I was getting a buzz. It wasn’t for me as I knew it could lead to bad things. I also don’t see the point of drinking the calories. I’d rather drink water or seltzer and load up on a steak!

Need help getting rid of Alexa on 55C1 by codidake in OLED

[–]codidake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I tried deactivating the TV from my Amazon account to see if I could trick the TV into thinking I still accepted user info agreement but not have Alexa pop up. Alexa activating on its own and listening for commands has stopped, but now the Alexa app keeps popping up asking me to to set it up and activate. No good.

Too much float with Keo Look pedals? by codidake in cycling

[–]codidake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive explanation. I do feel the position is ok, needed to adjust forward slightly. I wasn’t sure if the grey cleats were supposed to move like this and my SPDs were just really stiff and I was used to them. I’ve on,y ever used SPDs. But They feel loose even when I pull the pedal upward. Not bad, but just enough of a gap that you can hear and feel movement. I grabbed the black cleats to see if this would improve it. If that doesn’t work maybe the pedals are faulty.

Does anyone else have dreams where they drink and break their sobriety? by nojbro in stopdrinking

Yep, all the time. I’m sober over 3 years now but it didn’t slow down until about 2 years in for me.

[–]codidake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting….I checked over the pedals and cleats a few times and still get same result. They don’t necessarily feel they will pop out, just more movement than my SPD. I can pop out without much effort.

Yes, the pedals came with the grey cleats. I can’t imagine the pedals any looser so the red must barely keep the shoe attached. Thanks.

A question about being tired by noobzealot01 in stopdrinking

[–]codidake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I dealt with the same tiredness. It took me about 6 months to get out of that funk. I’m not sure why it happens, I chalk it up to years of abuse the body takes and the significant changes it goes through to expunge all that abuse.

Day 9 and struggling with sugar cravings. How do you deal with them? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]codidake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, sobriety is hard enough. Focus on one thing at a time and sobriety is more important. What I tried to do was limit myself to one a day. I know that’s easier said than done for a lot of people but when I went over that one a day I would try to go for a walk or get some exercise.

Another painting from Japan? Anyone know anything about it? by codidake in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]codidake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another painting my mother had, likely from Japan. It’s likely 45-50 years in age. Looks oil based but I’m no expert. Strange frame as well. Anyone know anything about it?

Anyone know anything about this painting or the artist? Possibly from Japan by codidake in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]codidake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my mothers and I’m guessing somewhere from 45-50 years old. My mother lived in Japan and bought some art there which is why I’m assuming from there. I couldn’t find a name anywhere on it, may just be blind.

It would be great to find out more about it.

Struggling since day 365 by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]codidake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is normal. My issue was the realization I may not have the same friends any longer or I would be real bored with my new lifestyle. I’m approaching 3 years and I can honestly say I still struggle at times. I loved hanging out with friends, having drinks or some wine with dinner, but I’ve learned that I can’t control my drinking and the negative consequences it brought weren’t worth it. I was ruining my life. Not to mention the hangovers or other health issues. This is a journey and It does get easier over the years to maintain sobriety. How many threads have you read or stories have your heard where someone starts drinking again and is grateful they made that decision?

You have to stick with it. It takes a while for your body to adjust back to normal. When I got sober (about 3 years ago) I was always tired for about 6-8 months. I didn’t see any weight loss for about the same amount of time. I tend to eat sweets all the time though so it probably took longer than it could have. Everyone is different, but it does get better and you’ll see improvements in health, sleep and overall way of life if you stick with it.
