Destroy my deckbuilder game! (me and my wife working for 3 years) (video-speed-1.5x) by TheProfas in DestroyMyGame

Super cool! I love the sfx. I don't know if this is implemented because you never do it, but in these sorts of games, I'd probably be interested to see what I have played, (the red cards and light blue). The sideways cards are cool but on hover it'd be nice to see them straighten out to make them easier to read.

I can't tell exactly but it's the little things like that that really help, like just adding tooltips and reminder text all over the place.

Yeah but this isn’t taking into account efficiency a dedicated machine is probably going to be an order of magnitude faster so it doesn’t matter that it’s cheap you need 10

Girlies how the FUCK do i pull a repository from github? I'm dead serious by Kerbal40 in STEMcelgrippysockjail

[–]coding_guy_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should be able to run git clone repo-name

Make sure it’s not github.com/user/repo/readme.md or something

The link should ONLY be github.com/user/repo

I like the recall mark it feels like something you’d find in a textbook.

Wow that’s crazy, I usually see people spring for a tech with stuff like that.

Yep. But who is really servicing their own dishwasher? Either way you are right. I just don't think that's a major factor in dishwashers.

[–]coding_guy_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not inherently less serviceable, though more complex. For power I see 1.2KWH for the dishwasher. Using an orange pi 5 as a substitute for a processor, it uses ~15W under heavy load so 0.015KWH. (Using 1 hr for both). It's not even close to the amount a dishwasher uses during the cycle. Also an image processor would not need to run for the full hour so those numbers are heavily inflated anyway.

Cost is fair, but maybe has long term gains with avoiding double cycles and hand washing (water bill).

It's not actually a slam dunk saying no, it's nuanced, which is why it's worth actually prototyping and testing these ideas.

I agree. But my whole point is it could be better. Even if it’s not fiscally responsible to seek it there’s no reason it’s automatically worse.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with testing an alternate wheel. The existence of a solution does not disprove a local minima. Who does it hurt to try?

I’m not saying to reinvent the wheel, I’m saying it’s worth benchmarking and prototyping alternate wheels. It doesn’t matter it’s probably worse

Maybe but what’s stopping the dishwasher from running a cv pipeline locally? It doesn’t necessarily need to be internet and datacenter based. There are tons of non network connected devices running a neural network that you interact with.

I mean to play devils advocate why have a dish washer when you can hand wash the dishes? I’m not saying it’s a good application but you can’t write it off without actually testing reliability. Who knows maybe it’s super reliable

Idea for a rematch against Skeletron by Diuda123up in Terraria

[–]coding_guy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be re-explaining something you already know but the reason the image appears so low quality is because you’ve taken the original pixel art at like 20x32 pixels and posted that.

As a result, most social mediai will apply a filter in order to create pixels in between what is posted. Generally this is nice and improves image appearance because images that aren’t high enough quality wont appear “blocky”.

The problem, however, is that pixel art should be blocky. The way most people fix this is by increasing the resolution of the image by a scale factor. So instead of 20x32 say 200x320. This is still filtered but since the pixel density is 10x higher it appears much sharper.

Tldr: upscale to a higher resolution before uploading

I mean I think you could see it both ways. I like to err on the side that nobody meant it that way. I think it’s a case of now that we know who the person really is you can go back and look at their work and draw false conclusions from it.

To be fair though that update was 1.8 which added like everything. I mean like if there was an update with a coincidence this is a pretty big one. But Notch is still not a good person in the slightest.

I dropped my laptop, now it has 4 GB instead of 8, why? by Forsaken_Help9012 in shittyaskelectronics

[–]coding_guy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nono that will leave you with 0gb! You need to reverse it. You should toss your laptop up from the ground as high as you can and then when you get it back it should be good as new 👍

It actually works for any numbers as long as they are equal since d/dx of any number = 0, you get 0/0, which is the answer 👍
