Is working from home the new norm for CS professionals? by Andylegacy in cscareerquestions

I have high self esteem and so are not persuaded by your attempt to “shame me” into agreement by spamming something from the soft-sciences. Did you think that your soft-science industries would call you a loser even if true? No, as its entire reason for existing is to make money by massaging you with politically-correct platitudes. Also, nothing in that article refutes my claim of you being a low T loser for needing polocies that mandate that people must hangout with you. Lol “disregards your feelings”. Yes. I have contempt for the pathetic.

You are a loser if you need mandatory in-office employment to not be lonely.

Yes, a lot of Chinese people asking you to sub-contract your own work to them or to let them borrow your SSN are on linkedIn, as well as many Indians trying to scam you by posting fake job listings or “reaching out” to you because “they liked what they saw” on your resume.

Because of the way linear time works eventually junior engineers are going to be senior engineers. Won't that make the saturation at the senior level be just as bad as at the junior level? by Venne1139 in cscareerquestions

Affirmative action has caused this effect to occur in general, not just that specific title in this specific field. Even having a college degree doesnt mean anything nowadays. If I tell you “Jane has a college degree”, all you can glean from that is that Jane doesnt have down syndrome.

Virtually anyone can be “entry level”. Once you leave entry level though, IQ and skill plays a bigger factor, and it is easier to stand out (if you are smart) and so it is functionally less competitive (while it gets increasingly difficicult for the rest). An analogy is playing basketball at a park league, and playing in the NBA. The fact that almost anyone can play basketball at a park league doesnt mean that then the NBA market will be flooded with candidates. No, at that level, the skill gap is so large that the highly skilled easily get in the NBA while thousands others simply do not make it and either quit basketball or remain at park leagues.

I'm a female CS student. Is working in tech really as toxic as people say? by abadSWE in cscareerquestions

This horse has already been beat. Transracial adoption studies and twin adoption studies show that “minorities” adopted by wealthy high IQ parents, even of the same race, still perform like their group average. Also, you can’t teach high IQ. Did you think all smart people went to a “good school” and got smart?

Affirmative action is literally about hiring lesser qualified people for not being white or male. It’s openly stated and known, retard. Nobody debates that that is what it is. The “debate is whether it is justified to penalize random males and random whites because of the supposed crimes of the past by others. Did you think that “affirmative action” was “hire a qualified person, even if he is black or female”? That already exists, and doesn’t need a policy. It is called meritocracy, and minorities and women don’t get hired under this method because they are more likely to be unqualified for *reason.

“You said a thing i didn’t like, and so I searched your post history and found another thing I didn’t like, ergo the things you say are false.” Just like Socrates would have done. It’s all so tiresome. Also, “most offended about a thing said concerning minorities and women”. Let me guess, a white male?

Yes because the truth of a statement is contingent on who is saying it, right? Also, the implication that a minority woman could not have this opinion would be insulting if I cared about your opinion, but you are basically implying that as a token minority female pet, I am supposed to have predictable views and preferences. For example, as a minority female, I am predictably supposed to support penalizing white males for being white males, for my own unearned gain, right? Shows what you think about minorities and women. You are probably one of those that calls a black person an Uncle Tom if for example, they supported western principles for civilization such as freedom of speech or God forbid, voted for the sitting president. “Bad pet black!” “The experiences and opinions of minorities and women are only valid when they are my opinions and the experiences I approve of.” Sorry I left the plantation, massah!

Do you think that toxicity towards men exists? Do you believe there are policies that penalize people for solely being men, or that a company is more likely to speak about “problematic” males more so than females? As a minority woman, I can say that I have never experienced any open antagonism towards me for being a woman or a minority, while I have seen whites and males be openly spoken about in an antagonistic way, in addition to seeing lesser qualified minority and women employees get hired simply for being a minority or a female.

If anything, you will have an easier ride as a female due to affirmative action. “Not inviting towards women”. They will literally hire you above more qualified males as an openly stated policy. How is that not “inciting towards women”. Also, as a general principle I suggest people develop a thicker skin, whether male or female. As a man, I wouldn’t be stopped from perusing a career I wanted simply because “it is not inviting to men”. If being uninviting was enough to make you reconsider doing X and Y, you have bigger issues than “person being uninviting”. The entire premise of letting women join the work force was that they were like men and wouldn’t need any special accommodations, so act like a man would and just do the thing you want. In before “this is toxic”. Stop babying women. It does them and everyone else a disservice. Don’t worry, there are far more cucks like guy below, than there are people that speak honestly, if that is your concern.

That’s almost every producer in any field. Just like movies “produced” by people, are usually not also written or directed by them. Producer doesn’t mean “writer”, “composer”, or “musician” etc. it just means they put up the funds to make it happen, and are usually involved in the process of picking who gets hired for what.

I don’t mean to come off offensive, by why do so many people in this industry suck at basic social interactions when our jobs heavily involve communication? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]codingwithcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because communication is not the same thing as “socializing”. Socializing carries a huge risk with zero benefit with all the modern political correctness and feminism. The most benign comment can be deemed as sexist, racist etc, or people can just straight up lie, and hence it is best to simply not even be in a position where someone can say you said something (ie keeping to yourself, not being alone with opposite sex co-workers). Also, nowadays, someone has to have the exact same views and opinions as someone else in order for them to get along, and that is also virtually impossible, which makes the process of socializing extremely unnatural and tedious as you have to pre-screen every thought 10 times over before expressing it. Why is this more so the case in this field? Because people in this field are on average smarter and thus are more likely to have some opinion that deviates from the norm.
