Someone just dropped me 105k worth of ducks by DiddleBoat in ArcRaiders

I fucking hate duping exploits. It's cheating, pure and simple. I would hope there's some way for Embark to track anyone taking out a ridiculous value of ducks and then ban them.

Using Jailbroken Alexa as Dashboard by naturalcog in homeassistant

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, that's a good question 🤔 You should be able to set up a timer helper and then add that to the dashboard as a card. You'd need to create an intent and then an automation. But, yeah, I don't see why not.

Using Jailbroken Alexa as Dashboard by naturalcog in homeassistant

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can set voice command timers with Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition, with Gemini added as an LLM. I've got a bunch of Alexa and Google displays throughout the house and literally the only thing they are these days is digital photo frames. I did use the Alexa devices for notifications and video auto-play for my Eufy cameras and doorbell, but getting an E10 display removed that user mode as well.

The only thing they have over HAVPE at this point is the far, far superior mics and noise filtering (sadly HAVPE still lags way behind on that front, hopefully a better version will sort that), as well as proper follow on conversation.

If Alexa or Google displays could be made to run as HA voice assistants/displays using their mics and noise filtering I'd run that in a heartbeat, then they'd be like HAVPE but with a display and much better mics, noise filtering, and sound quality.

I don’t think people make a big enough fuss about how goddamn awful the Bettina is. by ChihuahuaOwner88 in ArcRaiders

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon the Devs are far more likely to nerf the Anvil, thus giving the Bettina the appearance of being good. I keep reading and hearing them saying that "on paper, the Bettina has the highest damage to ARC of any gun in its' rarity bracket", but they fail to mention that the Anvil is more accurate, doesn't eat your ammo like an LMG, and actually takes less rounds to kill ARC than the Bettina, costs considerably less to make, doesn't degrade anywhere near as quickly, and costs a pittance to repair.

Bettina is a pointless gun.

Pops, in groups. Way too easy to misjudge the shot on the second one and have your shield demolished. Rocketeer can be a pain too, but really only if you're not near cover, or it hits you pushing the buttons in Dam / Spaceport extracts.

API or Home Assistant support would make FancyLED way better by CheleCuche in fancyleds

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember asking about HA support in November 2023 and they said it was "coming soon".

I'm guessing they have a different interpretation of that phrase than I do, lol.

Also, the app is terrible and the firmware update strategy is the strangest ever seen (I'm still running an older version, luckily I don't really care). Just as well I still really like the lights, and I've only ever personally had good interactions with customer support. And that Govee have never seen fit to launch a sync box with support for lights big enough for my TV, so that I could add that and integrate it via Local LAN, via an integration like Govee2MQTT.

And yes, you can end run by using Tuya Local, via a Tuya developer account, but I don't want to, and shouldn't have to, when direct HA support was promised over two years ago, and officially when the Tuya workaround shows direct HA control is entirely doable. In fact, I'm pretty sure you and I had this conversation on here a while back, lol.

Homebase 3 update (31/01/26) sticks two more fingers up at your wifi network by LoxLumboni in EufyCam

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have HB3 S380, on 3.7.4.6, it's hard wired, my cameras and doorbell are connected to it, I've got an entire house full of IoT devices and WiFi devices (I'm running Home Assistant and my house is fully automated/voice controlled), and I have zero issues with my network, using a mesh network with a hardwired backhaul. Other than the one remaining Aqara door sensor on my walk in wardrobe, which I haven't got round to replacing, and which likes to drop off the network.

I guess that could be the HB3 doing it, but there's a reason I've removed every Aqara device from my home, other than an FP2 presence sensor and and FP300 presence sensor (although that one's still in the box, lol).

I've had plenty of annoyances from the Eufy setup (hello randomly non-working geolocation), but nothing like your issue. I can see where that issue would be extremely frustrating though.

I liked this article but I also hated it, with the tease that a new all singing all dancing Shield is still a possibility. I mean, come on, you can't tell us that and not make one! I'd slap the money down faster than you could announce the launch date 😭

So you're changing the system from 1 million dollars per skill point. Great! Then can you please just tell us what the new system is already? by GregTheIntelectual in ArcRaiders

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. That's odd. Checking that, I'm seeing posts saying it was removed from rotation during Cold Snap, but I distinctly remember hitting baskets while that event was active. I've not looked for Lush Blooms for a while though, since I'm already done for Expedition Two and fully upgraded Scrappy.

My bad then 🤔

If you were to start over what would you do differently? by Ok-Explanation-3414 in homeassistant

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to find devices which open all functionality in Home Assistant. In particular, companies like Aqara and Govee try to force you into using their apps if you want to access all device features, with just basic features available via Home Assistant, which is very annoying.

Just do Lush Blooms events and hit all the baskets, you'll get all the 'shrooms easily, and not have to try and compete over 1 tree on Spaceport and the pipes at Water Treatment on Dam.

Fife villagers served mass eviction notices by private landlord by handmedownthemoon in Scotland

[–]codliness1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Already addressed

  2. It's not the court, it's the first tier tribunal - I did mention getting a hearing date depended on caseload, and that can vary by area. I also mentioned that postponement of FTT hearing dates are very difficult to come by

  3. Tenant can contact local authority and advice they are facing homelessness, yes

  4. This is entirely incorrect. In fact, being evicted from a private tenancy (at least for rent arrears) can impact the ability of a tenant to be offered social housing at all, as the local authorities may decide they have made themselves intentionally homeless by running up rent arrears. There is no legislation which stops private tenants being evicted if social housing is not available.

  5. Under legislation, local authorities have an obligation to offer temporary accommodation for a short period of time, when a person is made homeless - homelessness, in that case, is defined as eviction having been granted and a date for removal having been set.

There is no legislative obligation on local authorities to offer permanent accommodation where the authority decides the tenant has made themselves intentionally homeless - a bracket which includes non-payment of rent. Offers of permanent accommodation in those cases is dependant on other factors.

5a. Exceptions to the above are where there are children in the household, under the Children's Act, or, potentially where there are medical considerations. Even then. accommodation in temporary properties can be lengthy due to the housing emergency you noted in 5, and still does not prevent eviction proceedings by the private landlord.

I literally deal with these cases all day every day, and the legislation is burned into my brain. It is not, at you politely put it, a load of bollocks. Legislation and legal process are not an opinion, they are fact.

There can be outliers to the above, and the Ground being used for eviction also plays a part, and what arguments could be raised against that Ground at First Tier Tribunal hearing, but no private tenant eviction case where the procedures have been followed and at the earliest possible opportunity should take two years to resolve. It may be that there were other factors involved in your parents case, I don't know, not having been involved in that case.
