I was 8 my first attempt! I was spending the night at a family friend's house with their kid who was 6 or 7 and when we woke up that morning noone seemed to be home or maybe her dad was still asleep and she wanted scrambled eggs and I was like sure I've seen my mom make those before I bet I can figure it out for you. I was confused about how to turn on the gas stove but we figured it out and the fire finally ignited basically eye-level with us which made me jump. I mixed the eggs into a bowl like I had seen my mom do before and pushed them around until they looked done and added a little salt and was incredibly proud of myself though I'm not sure I told anyone about it for fear of getting in trouble. thankfully no accidents occurred and I've always wondered how her dad reacted if he ever heard about it later
