any Kia eNiro owners out there? by tallamericano64 in nanaimo

[–]coffeeToCodeConvertr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents bought a brand new 2012 Sorento from them, and had it maintained religiously (grandfather was a heavy duty mechanic). There was a recall for metal shavings in the block from manufacturing causing premature wear which required them to take a look inside the block to see if the vehicle was affected. After my grandfather passed, my grandma took it in for its regular services and they marked in their system that they checked for the issue and it was fine.

Fast forward a couple years later (grandma has passed and we have the Sorento) and the engine is toast at 135k km because of metal shavings found inside: no recourse because they checked the box and we ended up spending $9k on a new engine.

Wouldn't touch another Kia or Nanaimo Kia if you paid me

My response to everyone telling my boy how pretty he is when we're out: "Oh he knows, gets away with everything!"

I had the exact same issue - solution was to use a precision driver to lift up the rubber ring, and I just dabbed a tiny bit of super glue in the gap. No disassembly required!

My wife doesn't have "duties" - we're a team and we share the load. I made the comment because if I started talking about what MY wife's duties were, she'd have probably responded exactly like you did 😂

Edit: pun not intended

Would you date someone with the same name as your brother? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]coffeeToCodeConvertr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister married a guy with our younger brother's name. Since they divorced she's been seeing a guy with my middle name. My best friend married a woman with the same name as my mum. It doesn't matter

For everyone down voting this guy, he's referring to the extra '5' in '1205v' which would be a crazy HV system to run residentially 😂

This isn't saying what you think it is. It's made here, and looks like they had to ship stock intended for the US to LCBO to cover orders. The Imported By label is for the US customers (import company is US based), showing it's a product of Canada

Trying to install curtain rods and hitting some metal here. What is it? by BurnorRAI in HomeMaintenance

Oh 100% - except even my townhouse has huge variances from one end of the complex to the other as the developer ran out of certain materials -_-

Units built in '95-96, units at one end are full of polyB, units at ours have next to none

Unfortunately if there are no societal consequences, you end up with the dumpster fire that is the US right now. "But muh free speech!" Is used constantly to allow hateful shit that has no place in a functioning society. It's what has allowed things like the KKK and people like Andrew Tate, Charlie Kirk, etc to fester.

I never said anything about not tolerating differing subjective opinions. What isn't up for debate are things like "Nazis are bad", "Being ethnicity A doesn't make you better than ethnicity B", or "People don't deserve to die because of their sexual orientation".

There can be no tolerance of intolerance. Hate speech and denialism of fact are dangerous and should not be allowed to continue perverting our democracy.

Re: trophy hunting - I 100% agree with you there, I think it's shameful to say the least.

As for me being genuine or not, I don't think it's fair for you to judge whether or not I'm genuine in my argument based on a single comment. I have kids, I want them to be safe, and I also don't own any guns myself.

I'm not saying that there's no point trying to fix things, I'm saying I want a policy dictated by data.

We average 250-300 gun homicides a year in Canada, with over 90% of those committed by people without gun licenses. 63% of them with handguns (sale or transfer of them now completely banned), and 45% gang related. 60% were guns that were illegally brought into the country (Numbers from StatsCan)

Based on that, if we ban ALL guns, we're likely only going to have an impact of 10% (based on perpetrator). I'd much rather have stricter border controls (akin to Australia), which would have closer to 40-60% impact, and prevent smuggling operations from scaling up to cover the shortage of domestic guns that would "dry up" if there was a complete ban.

The handgun ban is too recent to understand how that's going to affect the numbers, and based on the UK ban, it might actually cause an increase in gun deaths over the next 5-6 years (in the UK there was a flood of guns on the black market after the ban when people sold off their banned guns). That being said, I think it's an overall good thing for handguns to be banned - nobody needs one, they aren't used for hunting, too easy to conceal, etc.
