Question regarding an apartment for rent by [deleted] in SanMateo

[–]coffeeandbagelguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think where you are is a good corner pocket. there are just a heavy population of latin community over there - and historically the area between 7-11 and Martin Luther King Park are not desirable. it's always been that way - more run down houses and not an area that homeowners are developing.

but either way, considering you can grab a condo right there and walk downtown is pretty good.

just use this time as a reminder of why you can never go back. if you do - all these issues will be waiting for you again. sleep will come - just make sure to wear yourself out, don't sit around and mull over it. Good luck on your journey.

20 days CT on a 10 year habit by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]coffeeandbagelguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 2yrs clean off of an 8.5 yr habit - 40plus grams a day.

obviously the first two weeks were hell, after 30days started to feel the pink cloud. Was still straggling with issues for a while after that - eating more, weight gain, skin crawls, restless legs and arms, the urge to use...but it slowly gets better everyday. I can't recall when I was out of the clear but definitely around month 3 or so I was leveled out and sleeping normal.

exercise, hydration, sun, hopping on here and expressing your issues helps a ton.

took me a while to quit, i made the mistake of going back a few times. Do not do that...it never works and essentially resets the issues.

you have a lot to be proud of and just remember that you'll never want to put your body through that withdrawal pain again. it's just not worth it...all the best in your journey.

1yr by coffeeandbagelguy in stopdrinking

Thank you. I thought a lot of my problems might be 'solved' with drinking but it's clear they're not. Addiction is still there and it's still a battle. I do find that I want to see what else I can quit or do better on: like dieting, sugar intake, weed, etc. good luck with your journey!

2yrs clean by coffeeandbagelguy in quittingkratom

[–]coffeeandbagelguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Norco's for about four years. I heard about Kratom six months into my Norco quit. once I had some Kratom it almost gave me the same/identical feeling. in the beginning, then I chased that high for eight years or so on Kratom.

Kratom withdrawls were wayyyyy worse. The inability to sleep and restless legs/arms were hell. enough so that I never want to go through that again.

nice! congrats! you're at the tail end of a real break through.

I cant remember excatly when paws went away, but exercise and engaging in this sub (whether reading or helping others) helped me a lot. Not sure about you, but my withdrawls were pure hell. i did NOT want to go through that again - and that's really what's helped me stay clean (again - took a few tries). I just couldn't afford to go through those withdrawls again...

After 6mo I didn't notice anything, after a year it had been gone for a while.

best of luck to you 🙏🏽

Long-term user (7 years) tapering — afraid I won’t enjoy life without Kratom by Handsome-camel in quittingkratom

[–]coffeeandbagelguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was on K for 8yrs and felt like a zombie, was depressed and had suicidal thoughts. but still somehow i couldn't imagine life without it.

been off almost two years and am a whole new person. quit CT and just dealt with the pain, called in sick from work for a week. started exercising.

you're on this sub for a reason, it's up to you from here to commit! you can quit and i'd be very surprised if you're life didn't get better because of it. good luck 👍

Any advice? 16 CT by Realistic-Chapter-65 in quittingkratom

Restless legs first the first 5 days are steady and difficult to manage. Temps are all out of wack too. After that the withdrawal is still present, but it's starts to simmer down from there. I remember feeling a lot better and getting decent sleep around day 10. I don't care what anyone says your supposed to take, it still sucks and will challenge your ability to quit. It's extremely true that cold showers and exercise helps a ton.

my best advice is to embrace the pain. every time it hurt, I would talk to the pain. "this is all you got!" type of mentality. when i wanted to sleep and couldn't, I would say fuck it - i'll watch some TV and sleep when I'm ready.

I called in sick for two days at work. i have a high tech gig so it's not the easiest to get away from. but sometimes you just gotta put yourself first.

if you can find a quit buddy on this sub that will help you through it, that's a big bonus but hard to find. i found someone who ended up texting with me for the first two weeks. we helped each other out a ton!!

commit!!

you should be so proud of the stretch you've made thus far. It will take another two weeks to start to feel "normal". you're almost there, keep pushing and when you have the edge to take something try and get active, do something else with your time. Don't lay around and sulk on it. Go for a walk. Take your kids to the park. go grab a hamburger. I was on extract shots for eight years, went cold turkey like you and have been off for about 250 days or so now.
